Hey guys i was just going through our team and i dont think that egan and rusling can fit into the team if mick wants to play Fraser forward more. They are 2 of my favourite players and it will be annoying if they dont. This is my round 1 team tell me what you think!

FB: Maxwell Presti Lockyer
CHB: H.Shaw Clement Lonie
C: Thomas Johnson R.Shaw
CHF: Buckley Cloke Didak(If fit)
FF: Fraser/Bryan Rocca Davis

Rucks: Fraser/Bryan Licuria O'bree

Bench: Pendlebury Burns Richards Wakelin

Its just a start but theres medhurst, egan, rus, harry, holland(susp) and i dont rate richards so he'll have to perform!

Fock bryan or richards off and throw russa in. 2 rucks is more than enough. Let Josh and Bryan/Richards rotate forward/ruck duties.
I'm still not sold on Egan. Not sure if he's all that good.

I would hope Egan to be a definite inclusion come round 1, but the issue here is quite real...Egan, despite showing great form in the latter part of 06, hasn't really been seen that often in the pre-season.

I personally don't think Rusling will get a game in Rd.1. Don't even think he's picked to play in the practice match against Sydney, and he played in the Willi scratch match last week, as l said seems to have fallen off the radar as far as the match committee is concerned. Egan, not sure about either, depends if he performs in the final two scratch matches, against Syd/Rich. Hope he plays but must be 50/50 at this stage.
I think Bryan/Medhurst will get a game come Rd.1.
As a smokie l think Toovey may get a run come Rd. 1.

Rusling will get picked IMO. He's got speed to burn and he will get a chance to prove himself at the highest level. A few practice matches don't count for anything in the context of the season.

On the other hand, Egan isn't a certainty, although he should be out there with the boys.

i don't know why people persist in putting lockyer in the back pocket in our best 22. he cannot play there this year he was terrible down there last year

Egan is one of those players that will always look his better in the big time - He may not blow you away in practice matches, but that doesn't mean he won't be handy in Rd 1.

I'd have him in the side.

I don't think Dids will play round 1.

Swan is a certainty and I think Medhurst, possibly Egan and a smokie will play round 1. I'm not sure who will miss out but Josh, Bryan and Richards will also all play.

Egan on the wing for mine with Thomas to HF , Didak won't play in Rd 1 . Rusling as a leading forward and Rocca deep , I think they want this plan to work and will give it every opportunity .

I agree. throw him in on half forward or a wing.

Lockyer can play in the backline or back pocket depending on his matchup. If he's on an elusive/explosive crumber like Farmer, Milne or to a lesser extent Davey he gets burned. If he's on a forward/midfielder type like Chapman, Ablett, Bode, Power, Peake, Ebert those types, he goes ok.

i would go Illes in the back pocket

Really, he reminds me of a slower Shane Woewodin, while Woey was at Collingwood. He's just lucky that I don't abuse my own players. Apart from Medhurst...

Yes Egan can play. I can't guarantee for you that he will do so consistenly or wholeheartedly, but we have to chuck him in. He's only played 24 games and has easily shown enough to be persisting with.

Rusling can lead mark goal. This is good. I haven't seen him do much else, but he just has to do that first three well and we're happy. I'm not sure that he's a walk up start, but he'll get some gametime this season. He'd probably need to average 2.5 goals a game+ to justify being there while not contributing much else. Maybe he'll improve in other aspects too.

We need Rus more than people think In My Opinion.

Of course they can play, both have shown that they have talent/skill, its wether they can go on and forge impressive AFL careers that remains to be seen
