Can I get a bet against Essendon ?

Betting has become strong for Essendon to 1) win the flag and 2)Be undefeated through the season. I'd like to know what odds you could get on these because I dont think either are by any means certain.

Only look back to last year and West coast were 7 from 8 including a shellacking of Essendon. It's only loss was against St Kilda (who have taken points from WCE again this year) It wasn't till found 10 that the Eagles began to unravel. That was June 6 which equates to round 13 this year

Carlton had the best record ever in 1995 when they lost two in rounds 13 and 14 (against teams on the rise, saints and sydney)

West Coast had three losses in '91, Carlton (14) North (19) and Fitzroy (24) and went on to lose the GF to the premier of two years previous

I think this is a good bet.

So the bookies do think there is no way in hell they will win all games.

They were pretty impressive last night.

They look pretty good for top spot now as the next bunch (Geel, Mel, Carl, Coll, Roos) being brought back to the field, the next bunch (WCE, Rich, Haw, Freo) starting to look impressive and the next bunch (Syd, WB, Adel, Bris) trailing a little but capable of catching up ie all top 4 in recent years(bris with many home games left)

Thise saying it is wide open from 2 to 14 are spot on. It would be a good year for a vic team to make the eight as there would be little chance of having to travel (is that 2 colonial and 2 MCG finals in the first week) no matter where you end up in the eight.

In fact if the top 4 is still an all-vic affair there would be no advantage (under the new system)whatsoever between 1 and 4, the best result being for a team to avoid any of it's 'bogey' teams
