When I watch Nick Watson play, I see the same explosiveness that GAJ once had in his prime.

Mostly spends a lot of time forward at this stage of his career, but given time, he becomes a full-time mid - look out!

Exciting player to watch.

That's my prediction. Too good for fwd pocket and when he becomes full-time mid - GAJ comparisons.

What do you think?

We now need an insane Hawthorn supporter to bring this thread back every 2 days for the next 20 years, arguing no matter what that Watson is the best, and who thinks because they always argue and people get tired of refuting their points that they (the Hawthorn supporter) obviously won the debate.

Without question the MOST OVERRATED player in the history of world sport.

This idiotic thread supports this.

Move over Dusty and that try hard Collingwood flog that complains about finishing second all the time.........Nick Watson is the new GOAT!

I’d go along with that. Shows every sign of being as good as Lil Gazza.

An absolute brown and golden yellow beacon of fast paced excitement who demands the ball and destroys every opponent.

Hes everything you want in a footballer.

He is rather ruggedly handsome too. I love him.

I mean. I cringed when I saw this thread title

But he's closer to GAJ then being the most over-rated player in the AFL.

He's 21 and we'll see in the next 8 weeks. Hell if he's as good as he was last year ild take it. He got a little unfairly dumped on for having a bad finals game, but I mean he's 20 and a small forward. Two things that can really make you struggle in finals games

He’s no Kako that’s for sure.

(excuse the pun)... Oh God!

He is a bit of an enigma, im confident to say he will be the best small forward for the next 10 years, or at least he should be. If he could go beyond that as a midfielder I don't know.
High bar to clear - Pickett and Bailey the more successful so far. Even Higgins, Curtis, Rachele, Long and West all averaged more goals last year (and Rankine the same #)

His most direct comparison will be Pickett imo. Explosive small who will have stints through the middle. Pickett nearly managed the Stevie J stat line last year (ave. 20 disp and 2 goals - barely a bees dick off it). I think Watson will be good but Pickett is the gold standard for the next decade

He's off to a good start this year, 6 goals and both games close to 20 possessions, he's a more rounded player this year so you can clearly tell.
