Can Sam Walsh be the GOAT?

Hall of fame player no doubt. Top 10 in the game ATM. But won’t be the goat. Just does not have the devastating kicking skills or goal scoring nous of some of the greats.
Cripps, Curnow, Weitering. That is just from his own team.
Daicos, Bont, Trac, Gawn, Gulden, Butters, Cameron, Neale, Greene, Taylor and many more.

He would struggle to be a top 20 player in the AFL.

The fact that this thread was started is unfair.
The fact that it was started by a Carlton supporter is unbelievable.

Ah, that's where he misspelt Fogarty.

Good pickup. Top 10 has been updated.

Lachie "I have the best winning record in the AFL since 2022" Fogarty is 100% locked in at #4.

Name a regular player in any team with a better win/loss record than Fogarty over the last 2 years.

I'll wait.....

1. Curnow
2. Cripps
3. Walsh
4. Fogarty
5. Weitering
6. Bontempelli
7. McKay
8. Petracca
9. Heeney
10. Acres

GOAT = the greatest of all time by the way.

Gary Ablett Jr who is often put in the GOAT discussions at 23 had:
  • 0x Premierships (Walsh is about to get 1)
  • 0 Brownlow medals (Walsh would probably already have 1 if it wasn't for Cripps)
  • 0x Rising Star (Walsh has 1)
  • 0x All Australians (Walsh has 1)
  • 0x Mark of the Year (Walsh has 1)
  • 0x B&F's (Walsh has 1)
  • 0x AFLCA Best Young Player (Walsh has 1)
  • 0x Gary Ayres Medals (Walsh has 1)
  • 16 Brownlow votes (Walsh has 63)
So at the same age, Sam Walsh is unquestionably miles ahead of Gary Ablett Jr. Arguably the fittest player in the comp. Elite on both feet. Can play inside. Outside. Kicks goals. Runs both ways. Tough as nails. Tackles hard. The complete player.

Has nearly a decade of his prime left. When it is all said and done will likely be a multiple premiership player. Stands up in finals so likely jags a Norm Smith or three. Proved his greatness in September last year having won the prestigious Gary Ayres Medal.

Should he continue at the same level I can see no reason as to why Walsh couldn't be the GOAT. And if not the best of all-time, certainly the best of his generation.

What do y'all think?
No
