To be fair we had to contend with a rampaging eagles midfield and a few extra players on the field for the opposition in the prelim.Nobody predicted the Crows as the minor premiers in 2005, either, they got top spot at the end of the home and away season, but how did that turn out? Not even a grand final appearance.

They played a home prelim the following year and still lost, too. And the Crows could take on a number rampaging midfielders, this years, too. More experienced midfielders in finals. To be fair we had to contend with a rampaging eagles midfield and a few extra players on the field for the opposition in the prelim.
Losing that first final to St Kilda by 8 points blew up any chance. Having to play the away prelim in Perth, rather than a home prelim against Sydney made all the difference

System and management is dictated by the senior coach. You said ‘coach/system’, and ‘coached/managed’ clubs, and not ‘senior coach’.
That's totally ignoring 2005 and 2017 where the Crows were minor premiers and didn't take advantage of it. I think the Crows are even worse off than those teams, especially 2017 when they were the best throughout that season. Ironic you say I don't know anything about Davis, when I stated the facts about him, that he was never a senior coach, so how would he be the head of management? Yes, it's great one person with managerial skills is involved, it definitely helps, but he's not in that senior managerial position, nor is he a senior coach with a mass of finals experience. Fagan had a managerial background that set Brisbane up, Davis worked under Fagan's system, and it took Fagan 6 finals series in a row to get a premiership, not 1.You probably wouldn’t know anything about Davis, but……..there’s many reasons why we’re top of the ladder now and may go on to the big dance and possibly win it. Adelaide Director of Coaching Murray Davis is a HUGE one.![]()
Pretty relevant that minor premiers don't necessarily win premierships, just look at last season. It really comes down to inexperience from the senior coach/system/players vs teams experienced in finals. Like I said, if the Crows had prime experienced Blight, then I think they'd give it a real crack at least getting to the granny and competing, this year, not with Nicks, though.Imagine thinking something 20 years ago is relevant to today's teams and landscape.
How did it go for Chris Scott? He had a ton of finals experience when he took Geelong to the flag in 2011.Pretty relevant that minor premiers don't necessarily win premierships, just look at last season. Why?It’s been a phenomenal turnaround to likely win the minor premiership, but for me, the Crows (along with the Cats) are giving off serious straight sets vibes.

Bitter that Troy Bond left you. Let it go mate. Let it go.Do not rate either team.
At. All.
Ok you didn't really answer the question.Do not rate either team.
At. All.
Ok you didn't really answer the question.
So you don't rate the two teams currently at the top of the ladder?
Please explain if you can.
Adelaide didn’t get a soft draw. They have three double-up matches against teams in the top half, which is average. They were supposed to get an easier draw, but the bottom-six Gold Coast they played twice is harder than they were supposed to be.Geelong has easily had the most top-four finishes over the past 20 years, largely thanks to the advantage of playing home games on an unusually shaped oval. But more often than not, it doesn’t translate to real success - they frequently come undone at the MCG when it matters most.
As for Adelaide, their current ladder position is seriously flattering. It's largely a product of last year’s poor performance, which handed them a soft draw this season. They’ve racked up nine wins against struggling teams: the Saints, Bombers, North, Port (twice), Tigers, Dees, and the Eagles (twice). And with another game against North still to come, it’s hard to see their ladder position as anything but a gift.
Straight sets for both.

They'll flog North next week.Biggest of the year for Adelaide tonight.
Sew up the top two and get a home final. It would go a long way to securing a grand final berth.
Probably end up getting top two anyways even if they lose but it's a statement game.
Still a chance to play the Pies. Id prefer the Suns though. Will play gold coast it looks like in week 1 of the finals if suns win their last two games.
Brendan RetzlaffNo they can't. Why? Because I said so
