Steven Trigg has come out and annouced that the AFC will not be reviewing Gary's contract until the season is over, along with the relevant players who are out of contract. If I remember correctly Blight's contract was extended mid season so why - if the club is happy with the coach - won't they extend Gary's contract. Could we read a message into the refusal, like maybe they have other plans for next season ??

What do you think. Am I being paranoid or is this Gary's last year with us?

I think it shows a lack of faith in the coach

I understand the reasons why but don't think they outweigh the peace of mind of the coach

This will also bring back the rumours that the Club want to replace him with Neil Craig

Also what if Carlton or Syndey approahc him? Can the Club stop them doing that?

As I understand it normal buisness practice is to negotiate contracts that will be renewed at least three months before hand

What date does his contract run out??

Would he be justified in refusing to take part in any activities directed towards the following season as he is not contracted for such

Brings up a number of interesting issues

It means nothing. It is club practise to review contracts at the end of the season. It think the club has great faith in Gary, he will be our coach next year an beyond. It is silly actually for us to even be talking about this subject, it is none of our business really and it is just the media looking to make some hype about nothing.

Of course its our bloody business

I am a GOLD member

It is precisely my business

I got an e-mail from the Club just now explaining this would have happened no matter what the fortunes of the club but a decision will be made before his contract expires.

you missed my point

Stevo for Club Champion in 2002!

Of course it is our business who is the coach of the club, we are the finiancial blood of the Crows. My point is that the negotiations between Gary and Club are confidential and should stay that way and when they choose to do these negotiations is up to club. As I say it is the media trying to make a big thing out of it.

Ayres knows that if he continues the current Crows performances he would need to be involved in Carey like off-field scandal not to have his contract renewed (even if the likes of Pagan are available). The pleasing thing as that he has the players support (confirmed once again by Roo this week) & they seem to be enjoying playing under his direction. Just seeing footage of the players train you can see that their enthusiasm, which has been carryover to (most of) their performances (ie. the Smyth principle).
