You want factcheckers to be corrected if false, and according to that article they - the ones she won her case against - were perfectly happy to do so. I don't see the story here, other than theblaze.com looking to use her case to pander to their audience and her keeping her name in the headlines.

I try to limit pay too much attention to the Candace Owens, Ben Shapiro's and Milo Yiannopolous' of the world.

My perception is that they are professional, or perhaps more accurate 'paid' trolls - and like all trolls, they barely have anything remotely interesting to say. Just bile and misery, 24/7.

I dont always agree with Russell Brand, but he does try to listen to people with sometimes radically different POV's. Listening to his chat with Candace Owens was utterly painful, because the attempt actually have a conversation wasnt reciprocated. She just talked over the top of him constantly parroting the same talking points she's paid to make, ad nauseum. People like Owens and Yiannopolous are in every sense of the word, bad faith. They are not interested in conversations of exchange of ideas, only their own platform and elevating their own status. Hence they are all obsessed with 'cancel culture' - being deplatformed.

I wouldn't advocate deplatforming anyone, except where they are using their speech to deliberately incite harm, which I believe these alt-right trolls often do.

But more than that, I think unfortunately any other media outlets need to stop voluntarily giving them a platform, as Brand in good faith attempted to do. I dont believe you can engage in meaningful discussion with people who simply wont listen or arent curious to listen to facts or reason.

They're grifters; they're not there for the ideas or the ideals, they're there for the money and the fame. It's why Yiannopolous has dropped off a cliff after saying something too provocative.

I watched some of her exchange with Russell. Okay, so, the government is bad, therefore limit their power and let the family/church/charity/community take care of our social problems? Okay, let me know how that goes. Why not address why the government is bad (campaign financing, lack of transparency, etc) and fix it? Also, she asks Russell why her grandfather did better than her father during Jim Crow laws, implying that it had something to do with how they didn't have welfare back then and that the family unit was stronger. Do you think it might have had something to do with the higher marginal tax rates on the wealthy they had then, which created a stronger social safety net and infrastructure for the American people?
