You have Insomnia.

Or, something else. Did you have heavy meal before you went to bed? Any noise troubles? Comfort troubles?

Do some push-ups or sit-ups or something. Alternatively, you could read for a while, I do that when I think I'm wide awake and before I know it I can't keep my eyes open.

I have a bad habit of sometimes being wide awake and trying to solve the problems of the whole damned world!!....

Seriously, don't think there is a lot you can do when you are having a night like that, except maybe have the radio (portable) on softly in background (under the pillow) .....I have found that helps by laying there just relaxing, listening to it, next thing I know, its morning..

Cant get to sleep... i lay there...and nothing....been like this since 10pm lastnight...WTF is wrong with me ???
It's your internal stuggle that is preventing you from getting some shut-eye....the conflict within... Should you go to the media and tell all about that lingering kiss with Travis Varcoe at the end of the Pier, or should you just keep it a treasured moment between you and Travvy Wavvy.

:D

I went to the doctor about it a long time ago. If I've got insomnia and I need to get up the next day, I'll take some sleeping tablets. If I've got no reason to get up, I'll just sit back, watch a movie and sleep for the entire next day.

Neither of those methods seem like something a doctor would suggest to combat insomnia.

At uni i did basically 3 exams without sleep. Not my choosing, i just couldn't sleep the night before each exam. Probably due to a bit of stress/nervousness and information running in and out my brain.

I didnt get out of bed and run around or anything, i just lay there trying to sleep. 2 of the exams were at 9am so they werent to bad. Even though you havent got sleep you have been resting so it wasnt that bad. At 7:30 i drove to down to the local 24 and got a coke and a couple of milo energy bars, then at 8:30 went down and got a red bull and that technique had me fine for the exam.

The last exam when i couldnt get any sleep was an exam that was in the afternoon starting at 2 o'clock. Just lay there again trying to sleep and come 9:30 am i still havent slept at all bar about 30-40 minutes. So got out of bed and just did normal stuff, ate a lot of high energy food which woke me up and i was fine for the exam and completely anhilated it. I showed no mercy towards it.

The key was though that i had studied hard for all the exams so i knew the content and not having any sleep isnt going to change the fact that you know the content required. When people say the sleep is the most important thing before an exam, tell tehm to get stuffed, the most important thing is you know the work.
