Put the load on the juniors!

FB: Farmer Rance Edwards
HB: Webberley Post McGuane
C: Collins Martin White
HF: Riewoldt Gourdis Nason
FF: Morton Vickery Gilligan
Foll: Graham Thomson Jackson

Int: Browne, Nahas, Deledio, Tambling, Thursfield

Deledio, Tambling, Thursfield, Riewoldt, Morton, etc. are only there to steady the ship if it looks like we are going to be flogged by a huge margin, otherwise just to be used for rotations. I'd like Nahas, Nason and Gilligan to rotate with each other (or possibly try one or two of them as a small back).

I left out players who probably won't even be ready for the NAB cup (Taylor, Dea, possibly Astbury, I don't know much about him), and anybody who has a history of injury problems (sorry Cotch, but I want you to be 100% for the real season).

Possibly Cousins could get whacked in for guidance of the younger players, and Jackson could go out for Hislop?
That's pretty much the way to go in round 1 of the NAB.:thumbsu:

Collins shouldnt get another game i cant see were people get all the hype from.
Wow, who does he remind you of? School bully?

I have to say I think he has tremendous ability to make opportunist things happen. I really like the kid and hope he gets better and better.

Just like every year.... the tigers will try and win the Pre-Season Cup to boost club memberships and then they will perform poorly during the season.... happens every time!! Remember Ben Cousins last year??? People went nuts and brought membership packages.... it will be interesting to see what happens...

We've never tried to win the NAB cup? It's not our club that is desperately struggling for memberships.

Richmond have performed worse than any other team in the pre season comp?? Thanks for reminding all us Richmond supporters (in high detail) of our history though. I'm more interested in how Brisbane will survive in 2-3 years when the only player they'll have is Rich??

Tigers will impress next year, everyones that little bit more experienced & injury-free.
Yeah, but, you do realise that the other teams are also a little bit more experienced and injury free, don't you?

It's the delta - the gap between us the the rest - that is the issue. We're a few years away yet, we need our core to be 23-27 years old before we will be really competitive.

Taking into consideration that most of our excellent players were injured most of the year.

What a load of crap.
I'm not saying these players being absent is the reason we got 15th, but it did have an impact.

Ben Cousins - 15 games (hamstring & finger)
Nathan Foley - 14 games (ankle)
Will Thursfield - 13 games (shoulder)
Troy Simmonds - 11 games (ankle, leg & badform)
Trent Cotchin - 10 games (achilles & hip)
Andy Collins - 10 games (hip)

You think that all these players are crap? Well that's fine. :thumbsu:

*whispers* psst, nurse, we need more medication for barnzy

Firstly, Simmonds is a crab and Thursfield missed a lot of games due to poor form, Collins missed most of the 2nd half of the season but we were already dead and buried before that. Secondly if you witnessed what we all did last season you would realise injuries played no part in our demise, we were just all round shit.

What about other teams? They had their injuries too, actually going off an injury ladder that was done near the end of the season, we had one of the best runs for the whole year out of any team. Even if all of them were fit and healthy 100% of time we still wouldn't have made it out of the bottom 4. Just a weak excuse for a pathetic season.

If your heart was with the club you'd be noticing that we were shit when any 5 of mcmahon, brown, bowden, schulz, oakleigh nicholls, coughlan, tuck, pettifer, raines, simmonds were in the side. But no you didn't notice that because you are just a fan. We've had the all important cleanout which we had to have. Now we're a list of 50% proven talent, 10% promising young talent and 30% of potential young talent and 10% players who will proabably go in 12 months eg tuck, mcmahon, simmonds, moore. How can that be shit?

When did I say those players weren't part of the problem? Oh forgive me, just another MT delusional rant about nothing to do with the topic.

Actually, if you were to make a ladder of games missed by people who finished top 10 in last seasons B&F, you'd find we were second. I'm not saying it's a valid excuse, but it definitely contributed.

i reckon we must field a strong team during the nab cup, no one should be put on ice unless injury. so that the players who will be playing round one can play a few games together under the new game plan and team rules .

FB Farmer thursty moore/rance
CHB newman mcguane tambling
C Collins Foley cousins
CHF Martin post cotchin
FF Nahas Riewolt morton
F Graham delideo Jackson
Inter: Vickery edwards conners webberley

I think we should rest anyone over 25 years old. I'd prefer too see Gourdis get a game than Moore. Gotta rest Cousins and Newman

Agree....then if we get pumped in the NAB game and also in preseason games against teams playing their experimental teams, we will know we are in for a VERY long year!

My only change to that team would be, as much as we bag him, McMahon gets in before Webberley. (Going on the fielding the strongest team theme)

Polo/Tuck for Conners? (although hope Conners steps ahead of these two!)

So Martin interchange, Tambling HFF and McMuffin to the HBF for me...but we obviously need a lot of improvement from these kids this year!
