Modra. You had to be in Adelaide during the formative years of their history just to appreciate how huge he was. It was almost Beatlesque. Mods by a fair way IMO.

So many fantastic marks but the goals are something else too. Especially the soccer goals, I've never seen a player better at using his soccer skills, just outstanding, he has no business scoring some of those and just shows extreme confidence kicking the ball off the ground.

An often overlooked genuine Superstar of the game.

Bloody hell, that's a fair one man highlight reel.

Seemed to be on a one man crusade against North, West Coast, Sydney and Richmond in particular.

Funny the things you notice in a video like that....Modra may have secretly bee na St Kilda or Geelong fan.....only one highlight each that I noticed against them....more than that on poor old Mick Martyn alone.

Modra will always be my all time favourite player. A big grab was always accompanied by a scream of "MODRAAAA" in kick to kick at lunch time. He was an absolute god in Adelaide, and simply didn't get the recognition he deserved outside of SA. I loved watching Carey, Ablett, Lockett, Dunstall, Kernahan etc, but none of them matched Modra's ability to entertain. They may have all been more dominant forwards, but none were as exciting as Modra. You could count on him to take a massive screamer and kick an impossible goal every match. He'd have multiple serious contenders for both mark and goal of the year every single season during his run with us (and should have won far more of these awards than he did - still took home 3 mark of the years and a goal of the year). He was an absolute freak. Had his knees not given way, he'd have made it to 1000 goals easily.

I'm too young to have been able to appreciate what Capper did, but there's no way he had anything on Mods.

It wasn't just his ability as an aerialist, but his second efforts and ability at ground level was as good as any crumbing forward.

Just a freak.
