At least St. Kilda finishing on top of us now means we have one less threat. Or has all the conjecture about him going to St. Kilda stabilised?

It will be devastating if Burns does hang up his boots...
In the live chat today on the HUN, they were saying that St. Kilda is Cousins' likely destination because, get this; they're closer to a flag! FFS, people just never learn with the Saints. :D

Michael Howard, who conducted the live chat gave his reason as "Hutchy seems pretty sure about the Saints" though, so I wouldn't put any stock in it.

Tarkyn Lockyer for captain! He should be delisted, not made captain! What a joke!

Swan is outright choice. Does his job each week no matter the score. There so many games his single handily lifted us out of the shiza (excuse my german) his destined to lead.
yep swan captain then cloke then pendlebury.

And maxwell as first vice bloke gives his all even if he doesnt have the skills

I might get a bit of flack on this however im leaning towards the ignitor... this bloke can lead us 2 a flag... not because he had a great year this year... just the fact, the bloke has heart and inspires the team:thumbsu:

No flak, but I think he'd be in the leadership group before hitting 27 years of age if we thought he had captaincy potential. ;)

Pendles for me. Swan is the pies' best player, but not aggressive or assertive enough, Cloke is the most overated player in the game ATM, and maxwell is only a bits player...

It hasn't taken Pendles long to 'stand up' for the jumper when a team mate gets crunched. (i.e. tarrant incident and kosi's treatment of wakelin last night).

Would love to see a 2 year older, 50 game John Anthony get the captaincy. Is a bit of a presence up forward, and just seems like he's older than he actually is. I think he would make a great skipper

I think Swan then Pendles, but does anyone think the captaincy would do Cloke any good, maybe take him to the next level? He seems like the type of player the captaincy would suit.

Firstly, I hope Burnsy plays on another year.
But......

I have to be honest, when Nick Maxwell confronted Jonathon Brown in Round 10 2006 I thought to myself "this guy will Captain Collingwood one day." That moment has never left me when evaluating Maxwell and it is not lost on the players or Mick Malthouse.

Anyone who even thinks to question Maxwell's place in the side should at the very least watch that piece of footage before putting finger to key.

I have read and heard plenty of negatives aimed at Maxwell but no-one has ever questioned his courage or commitment.
His tackle on Max Rooke in the PF last year reinforced my thoughts.

I would contend he was one of the few who could come off the ground last night head held high.

Most of the opinions I have read, not just in this thread but in many this and last season, put a lot of emphasis on the captain being the most skillful on the field...I don't really hold with this.

The guy I would want as a captain is the guy who would give his all for the side, set the example in mind and body, commit to a seemingly mindless show of guts and determination just to lift the side.
Nathan Buckley was not the Captain of Collingwood for his sublime skills, he was Captain because he was all of the above.
A great captain is the man who can get the most out of those around him.
I would be more than happy if Maxwell was chosen.

Can't believe someone is saying swan does not have passion for the game. I know he loves the game and always wanted to play AFL since he watched his dad as a youngster. He loves the game he is a team player you only have to watch him play each week bringing others into the game. How do you think didak got a lot of his kicks this year? His mate dane gave him the ball as he ran past. His on field incident is long forgetting and unless you were there no-one really knows what happened. I think i heard he was helping his mate from being jumped by four blokes - wouldnt we all do that - type of guy i would want along side me. I have heard he doesnt want captaincy - but rumour is that burns is going back to Adelaide so pies will have to appoint someone. For mine i wish this years most consistent player and last years decides to change his mind - been doing a lot of press lately. Go swannie.
