Just announced at a Carlton Press conference Judd will lead the Blues in 2008. Not such a shock i suppose. Good luck to him and hopefully he can lead us on to premiership success!!

Whitnall's Replacement

Yep, that's right....Captain Judd has taken the reigns @ the Blues.

I think it's a good decision, Stevo will be spewin a bit/ let down....But I believe he will think it's the best for the club.

Simpson would have made a brilliant captain also.

But we will wait and see, I have 100% faith in the Messiah:thumbsu:

Would have been a joke if we named anyone else as skipper. The people potting Judd as captain would have been the same people having a crack if he wasn't made skipper.

Hi Guys

This seems a surprise to an outsider.

Judd is an absolute champion and leads by example on field.

But what about off field? Shouldnt he take some responsibility for some of the mess that happened at West Coast under his leadership. Things actually seemed to get worse when Cuz lost the gig and Judd took over. The president and CEO are partially responsible. Should the captain absolve himself of responsibility too?

I would question his leadership credentials based on this alone - regardless of the rights or wrongs of his decision to leave a club in strife when he was captain.

Seems like a brave decision by the board to me.

I can't say that I'm at all pleased with this, but what's done is done

Oh Bugger Off what a stupid comment.

Went worse under Judds leadership whilst Kerr and Cousins had been on the gas for years? Read the WCE report you joker, it shows years of neglect. It is a miracle they won the premiership with that sort of intake.

You quite simply can't be serious :thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd:

So let me get this straight its alright for someone to just walk straight into a club and be handed the captaincy these days.

What a crock of shit.

Oh and by the way, Arrowsmith is a squib who takes short steps ;)

The captain's role is to lead by example on field. They have a secondary function to nuture the young blokes and lead by example on the track.

They have another function to provide a public face for the media and the supporters.

They do not have a responsibility to follow teammates around, investigate drug allegations, book them into rehab or anger management classes.

No it's far better for a drug addicted loser to have it before him. Oh dear.

Think thats all part of why he left. The problem was too deep rooted for a reluctant captain to change. If the people above him at the club wont show direction whats he gonna change?

I don't believe things got worse for the eagles once Cuz was replaced! There has been a steady flow of indiscressions for a long while and was as bad as it got when Gardiner was ripping it up with Cousins! I think the football public decided enough was enough!

Although I hoped for Simpson i think Judd is a better choice as Captain than Stevens.

Stevens has been there for 4 years and in that time you never hear of players following him around like puppy dogs at training or inspired by his presence. Judd has the "presence", that aura that makes other players follow him and be inspired by him.

He may not naturally be a blooded carlton player yet but look at the flack we got from having Red as captain last year.. a player who didn't have the respect from the AFL community any longer. Judd is respected amongst us supporters, the players, opposition supporters and players and in a way having someone fresh who has not had the taint of our 6 years from hell makes him a better choice than Stevens.

Congrats Juddy

The correct decision has been made Captain, Vice Captain and the Leadership Group well done to the board...

Onwards and upwards....Go Blues

You and I may or may not agree with it, but the club made an informed decision. I'm not a club insider and I'd say there's a fair chance you aren't either.

Not really sure why you have such a problem with it. And your opposition was very ineloquently stated into the bargain.

Maybe you're unable to build a case to support your views so you resort to swear words thinking it might make your point a little stronger.

Heads up....it doesn't. Makes you look like a baby.

But why was he a reluctant captain? And how do we really know that? If he was so opposed to what was going on at the club that he eventually had to leave, then why take the captaincy in the first place?

A genuine leader would have taken on the job - but only based on a number of commitments by the club to make changes - eg new leadership group, tighter discipline, more drug testing. He did none of this. He either agreed with how the club was run and was hence part of the problem OR didnt agree and hence is not a genuine leader to stand up for what he believed in....

Either way, I wouldnt want him captaining my club (not that my club Hawthorn doesnt have a total leadership void as well!).

Well done Juddy:thumbsu: best guy for the job.Look what he has bought to the club already without even putting on a pair of boots.
Round one bring it on!!!!!!!!!:D
