Not sure what you base this on, but you're a long way off the mark. He's leading the eagles in just about every stat under the sun, and is in the top 5-15 in the league for them. Check out his stats for hard-ball gets, loose-ball gets, tackles, possessions, assists, etc. Its unbelievable how even he is all round, and at his age he still has improvement left in him. He's had numerous 30 possession games this year. He could very well become a high possession version of McLoed.

Well i really hope the eagles can hold onto juddy and id love to see a longer deal, this time possibly a 5 year deal if feasible, this way we wrent have to put up with Judd 'homesick' bull**** every year.

Dont kid yourself. There in for a huge push for talent at the end of the year.
Thats why they got rid of Schwab for Wallace(almost signed) theyll go after Luke Ball and C Judd.
It all gets down to what Judd will want to do at the end of the year.
even with 1 more year on his contract WC will probably let him go for Franklin#1 and either Hay or Thompson.
Next year his currency is less as he can leave uncontracted.
Lets see what Chris wants to do.
One well known Hawk official is telling everyone who wants to listen that they will have picks 1, 2 and 3 from the 2001 draft next year.

So Hawthorn will be ditching their established key defender and/or forward as well as the top draft picks and probably another of their few decent players in the Ball deal?

That's midfield heavy stuff, who will play up forward for them? Croad? or down back? Croad?

It won't happen mate.

What player in their right mind would want to move to Hawthorn in the foreseeable future??? The whole club is a basket case. Life in football is too short to waste years at a club which is in need of a huge makeover - both on and off the field.

Well Luke Balls mum is Peter Russos sister. Her sister is married to Stephen Greene, 2 club legends just there. Going further Lukes brother is Mathew Ball, his cousin is Stephen Greene.
Judds best mate is Ries of Hawthorn as well as Stephen Greene.
Thats the story i have heard dont shoot the messenger.
they got rid of Schwabby and are filling up the decks with Hawthorn legends of the 80s to give that perception that the club is covered with the greats. Hawthorn are no basket case just a club down for a few years.
Great membership, fantastic corporate sponsorship probably slipped in one or two things but over time that happens to most clubs more than Hawthorn.

Dipper for CEO.

The Hawthorn move for Judd will be in tomorrows paper.Rejected by WC but along way to go. I think the whole deal depends on what Judd really wants to go. Keeping in mind if he does want to go WC will get more for him this year as next year he can just walk unless he gets traded to a club of his choice.
Just thought id bring it up cos some thought i was trolling.

I do think ultimately we will have to trade him... but we better get a ****LOAD of talent in return.

Unless Juddy is dedicated to staying. This is going to be the most you will get for him.(Hawthorn)Im sure you will screw them for more.
I also believe StKilda will lose Ball to them too.IF Judd goes there.

Hawks set their sights on Judd

The Eagles have already rejected an unofficial trade offer, but the bottom-of-the-table Hawks are refusing to give up the chase.

It's understood they have offered the Eagles their priority draft choice -- most likely first overall in the 2004 national draft -- as well as two players for the 21-year-old superstar.

They hope to sway the Eagles to use the No. 1 pick to grab local star-in-waiting Lance Franklin, a 193cm key forward.

The players linked to a possible deal are Hawks full-back Jonathan Hay and small forward Mark Williams, both West Australians.

Hawthorn's football director Dermott Brereton has discussed a proposal with Eagles football manager Steve Woodhouse.

Victorian-born Judd is contracted for another year, but has

told the Eagles he wants to put all contract negotiations on hold until the end of the 2005 season.

Melbourne clubs anticipate Judd returning home and already are juggling their salary cap for a tilt at one of, if not the, most exciting player in the competition.

The Hawks believe they can convince West Coast to trade Judd at the end of this year to avoid a possible Nick Stevens situation at the end of 2005.

Last year, Port Adelaide received nothing for the All-Australian midfielder after a deal could not be reached with Collingwood or Melbourne.

Carlton, the 2003 wooden spooners, swooped on Stevens in the pre-season draft.

It's understood Woodhouse told Brereton a trade for Judd was categorically out of the question.

Brereton and stand-in chief executive Jason Dunstall, however, plan to approach Eagles chief executive Trevor Nisbett when Nisbett returns from a US business trip on August 6.

Brereton did not want to comment last night. Woodhouse refused to confirm or deny the meeting, but was emphatic about the club's stance on Judd.

"He's happy, he's acting captain in the absence of Ben Cousins and we're not interested in talking to anybody about Chris Judd," Woodhouse said.

"We want Chris Judd at our footy club for his career.

"We wouldn't even entertain talking to clubs about him."

Woodhouse said the Eagles were frustrated by the constant rumours about Judd returning home.

"We get sick of people talking about it," he said.

"There's constant innuendo and talk about him going home.

"He's not long re-signed. He's signed until the end of next year and everyone's into him constantly again.

"And I think the kid's at the stage where he's just saying, 'I've told everyone and if I say anything different, people try to read something into it'."

A $500,000-600,000 player, Judd's connection with Hawthorn is three-fold.

He is best mates with Hawk midfielder Steven Greene; former Hawks star Barry Rowlings was his football director at Caulfield Grammar; and Judd was an avid Hawks supporter growing up.

The Hawks have embarked on a 3-5 year rebuilding program and want Judd, with No. 1 draft pick Luke Hodge, as the pillars on which the team could be built.

Franklin, who represented Western Australia in the recent national under-18 championships, is tipped to go top three at the draft.

Great. And every indication is that acting captain Juddy is dedicated to staying, so we don't have a problem.

Ive actually heard that he wanted to leave at the end of last year but was persuaded to stay because the Eagles had a shot at winning the flad over 3 years. Thats why he only signed a 2 year contract. With things not going according to plan he is thinking about returning.
Judd hasnt said he doesnt want to come to Melbourne. If anything hes said "Leave me alone. Im not talking about it"
I think the Eagles from what i understand will have a fight to keep him. Yes i know like i said earlier he has a year to go but next year is there a gun young WA kid in the top 3 to trade for?Who else will be offered when he can just walk so the whip is in the other hand.
It will get down to what Judd wants to do and if he will give the Eagles an assurance he will stay long term.
Still a long way to go in this sage and the way the Hawks are(Brereton, Dunstall and the president )will do anything to save their hides so you might be able to milk them for quite a bit for them to take home their trophy) It could be a win /win.

They will offer Ball , Judd and Judd Ball as a team mate as well as Hodge. Throw in Crawford and Sam Mitchell and they have the best motor running around to rival Brisbanes. they still will have a pick #4 to take a Ruffhead (Probably best tall outside of WA 193 cms and is a swingman(can play forward or back) Everrit for first use of the ball and Thompson up forward.
Jacobs/Croad and Beaumont will cover their backline (kind of)
Not such a bad prospect as people think.

You really are an idiot.
We are a helluva lot closer to a Premiership than Hawthorn. And you've "actually heard that he wanted to leave at the end of last year" - from Juddy personally was it ? He signed his new contract HALFWAY thru last season so I can't see how he wanted to leave at the end of the year. If you knew anything about Judd at all you would know that he will not just walk. He has way too much class for that.

The original offer (according to your good self) was a pick and a player.
Now it is a priority pick plus two players.

Interesting to see what the other clubs can dream up

They are all wasting their time - but it's amusing anyway.

how else would you get franklin if not for pp 1. ?
yeah ok im an idiot.
Yes the paper also says williams so im not 100% right.
it was a bloody good guess though wasnt it?it will all boil down to what judd wants to do.
wc would be stupid to keep him if he says he definitely will go at the end of next year because next year who knows? collingwood might come last?Eddie might say walk juddy and you get a gig on the footy show... or adelaide do and there are no top 5 picks from wa.
thats all ive said....

but yeah im an idiot.

What makes everyone think that we want Franklin so badly that we would give up Judd. Others think that Deledio or someone else will be the first choice. The theory always seems to be that because we are a Western Australian team, we want to have all Western Australian players. If that was the case we would have gone for Polak rather than Judd in the 2001 draft. All the hypothetical scenarios in the world aren't going to make the slightest difference. Lets see what happens during the trade period.

Sorry to drop in unannounced, for the record i think this deal is a pipe dream for us but i thought i'd answer your question about our backline. The reason we would offer Hay as a trade is because we have a young guy called Tim Boyle @ the club who broke his leg pre-season but was said to be a rival for the FB position this year the way he was playing & the rate @ which he had matured over the last two years .WC would be mad to get rid of CJ though .

I wonder how much more of this article is rubbish after reading this part. Chris Judd has said on numerous occasions in interviews that he was a Melbourne supporter growing up and Gary Lyon was his favourite player. Just ask Yze_tragic,as he's always talking about when, not if, Chris Judd goes to his club. You can all keep dreaming though. You're assuming he has no loyalty to a club which picked him, despite two shoulder recons, and that he is unhappy in WA. You're assuming alot really.

My thoughts exactly.

Hawthorn are just trying to deflect some of the heat from their embarassing situation by giving their supporters something to dream about ;)

The Herald Sun hardly equates to a quality newspaper so who would believe anything they printed anyway.

He was a Melbourne supporter but he has 2 of his best friends at Hawthorn and theyre the only team that can bring him home this year.

If you register on TheBlueView.Org (Go to trades draft section) Which you have to register to get into)i wrote about this 2 weeks ago and named Hay/Thompson as the player with number 1 Hawthorn will be offering you.
I had heard it from a few footy sources.I wont say who ... but people that know me on TBV know my sources are pretty good.
Look for Synbad
The crux is will Demie want to stay there long term.
Its not possible you will get as much next year as this year because if he wants to go and hes out of contract you dont have a strong grip on things.
Please dont take me as a troll as im sure some of you did a few days ago.

i think you would be able to understand that most of us are just sick of the whole issue. Juddy's contracted till next year and unless the club whats to trade him, which they have said they don't, he'll be playing with us for at least another year, if not beyond. It just gets frustrating when every week there is another thread talking about Juddy going home when really, nothing substancial points to the fact that he will.

Point is we NEED compensation if he does leave. We can't just have a Nick Stevens situation where the club got nothing in return.

the difference between the two situations is that Nick Stevens only wanted to go to Collingwood and wasn't open to doing deals with any of the other clubs. If Juddy was to go back east, we would be fielding offers from all 10 clubs. It would be highly unlikely that we will miss out on compensation. Actually, i'ld think that we would get a lot as the other clubs would be bidding against each other, driving what we got in return up. Also Judd is a better player than Stevens and i hardly think that the melbourne teams wouldn't make bids for him if was available and i don't think they would just sit by and let him go to the club that's finished last through the pre-season draft.

On top of all that, i don't think that Judd would leave with the club getting nothing. He doesn't seem the type

Why would he care what the club got, if he was leaving that very club?

He'd want more good players in his new club, don't you think?

it's a respect thing. The club has been very good to him with everything since coming to West Coast. If he did leave it would either be because he wants to be back with his family or for some huge amount of money, not because he doesn't like the club/player/coaches etc. There aren't many players of the Stevens variety who say 'trade me to this club or else'. Most get attacted to the club they are with and don't want to shaft them, even if they do leave. I couldn't imagine Judd "doing a Stevens"
