It seems most want King to be captain. (like me)

However if he is not 100% fit let him concentrate on his fitness and form rather than burdening him with the captaincy.

Give the captaincy to someone we know will be on the field week in week out. (Ling)

This is not a demotion to King but rather an effort to get the most out of him.

Question: has King’s injury had anything at all to do with him being captain?

At a pinch (and I’m not even sure this is true), I would say that at times he’s probably played when he shouldn’t have because he felt a duty to get out there and lead the team. Other than that, I don’t think that captaincy “burdens” him per se.

I'm 90% sure he'll keep the captaincy.

He will be captain again because they won't want to unsettle the team. They would have only replaced him if he voluntarilly stepped down. Don't need these type of issues unsettling the team. The hard decision should have been made in October and Ling should be captain with Mooney and Chapman the deputies. Players that inspire the group should be leading, and above all else players that WANT to be leaders and it comes naturally.
