Is it just me or is VB Mr Invisible when we lose?

I mean i don't live in Adelaide so don't know if he does media etc but you never see him at press conferences etc.. Perception is everything.

He is an Altar Boy of the highest order...

Wants to run PB's in the time trials at training and clean the coffee cups after Trigg's board meetings, yet never comes out and shows emotion or yearns for the club.

Didn't you notic.

Vader was auguring fir Johnson to be delisted and saying his card has been stamped, yet has him as an in this week.

Would waste your time as the Fonzs won't say he's wrong. He will just argue back and forth to prove some silly point.
Has our complete lack of alternatives escaped your notice? Tex - injured. Smack - suspended. LJ is a "break glass in case of emergency" player. Our shortage of KPP players means that it's now time to break the glass.

I hope he comes back and isn't scared off by having to explain calling VBs first half shocking and then spending the next day defending it. At least when he changed his mind on Smiths game last year it was after a couple of weeks but this is a new record.

I don't think we should discourage people from rethinking their initial position on an issue.

Ive noticed Vader hasnt posted in a while here.
He must have admitted defeat.
Either that or we're all gonna get a card by nights end for having a differing opinion.
Differing opinions have never resulted in cards. Never will.

How do you figure that?

We recruited LJ and had gun players in front of him - Tex being the like for like player.

Tex went down, LJ finally had a chance, instead we wrongly recalled Porps and the poor bugger hurt himself.

Regardless, I wouldn't cite our selections this year as proof of anything except how much of a shambles we are.

FullyBigK - I do find that a little odd as well; but it isn't like he's front and centre when we win and then absent when we don't. Presumably, VB is happier for the younger guys (who are very marketable) to do most of the media stuff?

No problem with that, but it took Vader a whole 8 minutes to flip from calling VBs first half shocking to having a crack at posters who weren't happy with VBs game and calling their opinion rubbish. It's only fair he clarifys his change of heart if he's going to rip into others for an opinion he shared only 8 minutes earlier.

Not true, not at all.

Luke Thompson
Sam Shaw
Kyle Hartigan

And then you have a change of strategy to use a different player system to enable smaller players to fill in on the flank.

You have had LJ card stamped now for a few weeks, he plays a ripper of a game and BANG...Vader picks him. He is not the last man standing and you have him gone.

Surely you must be trolling, if you're suggesting that the availability of Luke Thompson and Kyle Hartigan in any way alters the equation for our forward line KPP option? Sam Shaw isn't available either..

As for me having stamped his card.. All I've done is flagged the fact that the selectors seem to hate him, for whatever reason. I've never bagged him as a player, I've just noted that all of our other KPP forwards have been given opportunities, while LJ has been left to rot in the SANFL week after week after week. The reason his card is probably marked is because he's been on AFL lists for 5 years for just 3 games. Matt Smith waves and says "remember me"?

This is the whole point.. Tex doing his ACL gave the selectors the perfect opportunity to play LJ. What did they do? They resurrected a severely out of form Porplyzia instead. They seem willing to go to great lengths in order to avoid selecting LJ. I don't know why. I'm commenting on his lack of selection and drawing conclusions from that - I'm not putting forth theories as to why he's not getting selected.

Talia moves forward, Hartigan/Thompson go back. Simple really

You forgotten that discussion we had where you insisted that Johnson would be delisted and Callinan would get a new contract?

Prior to this year Vader, Tom lynch has only played 12 games in 4 years and didn't start the season. He could easily be in the same position had t not been for an opportunity he got.

Lewis Johnson did have a 10 week knee injury, he did kick 60 plus goals last year when we had a dynamic forward line. Opportunity didn't present for him. He will get another chance with a one year contract as we won't find so done better (short or long term) with the draft restrictions in place.

And no, not trolling. You on the other hand could be accused of doing such a thing.[/quote]

I haven't forgotten that discussion. I still think he's a likely contender to be delisted at the end of the year. If he doesn't get selected next week then he never will.

You might want to go back and re-read that discussion. My arguments have always been based on the fact that the selectors go out of their way to avoid selecting him - so what's the point of having him on our team list if he's never going to be selected? 5 years, 3 games = no AFL contract for 2014. It's not a difficult equation to understand.

We all know what he did last year. How did the AFC selectors reward that (almost) Ken Farmer medal winning performance? They gave him 1 charity game, at a time when our injury list was in double digit proportions. It's fairly obvious that they don't rate his SANFL performances anywhere near as highly as the BF fans, largely because they also see him at training every day of the week. I don't know why he's out of favour - all I know is that he is out of favour, something which is incontestably true.

His issue is attitude.

If he pulls his head out of his arse, he has a future.

From what I have heard, his attitude has really turned around since resuming training with the main group.

Previous to that, his attitude was a FIGJAM.

And when was a like for like position available?
If they wanted to select him then they have had abundant opportunities to do so. They made opportunities for the other forwards, plus the likes of Lyons, Laird, Crouch, Kerridge & co this year. They haven't bothered to create an opportunity for LJ. Why?

.....

Aside from the fact those guys are all effectively midfielders... He's been out injured?
Since when were Lynch, McKernan or JJ midfielders?

He's been on our list for 2 years now. Even allowing for the fact that he's been injured for much of this year, the selectors have still had abundant opportunities to select him.. if they wanted to. They manage to create opportunities for every other player that they want.. but they haven't created any for LJ. The only logical conclusion is that they're not interested in selecting him (for whatever reason).

Be careful what you say about our esteemed leader I hear the AFC propaganda unit has already gone into overdrive to dispel any questioning of Mr. van Berlo's position as just baseless rumour mongering.

Since when were McKernan and Jenkins comparable players to LJ?

I know the reason, and I've told you it; his attitude is shit house, has a huge opinion of himself.

Hopefully aiof is right about him waking up to himself.

Since they're all competing for a role as a KPP in our forward line? Sure, Smack & Jenkins both (allegedly) have the ability to ruck as an additional string to their bow, but they're being selected as KPP forwards first and foremost. Both have been consistently preferred to LJ.

Honestly.. how can you even argue the case is beyond me. There is no possible debate about the fact that LJ has been consistently overlooked by the selectors. I'm not saying why they've overlooked him, or making judgements about any shortcomings he might have as a player. All I'm doing is stating the bleeding obvious - the selectors seem to have no interest in playing LJ if they can find any other alternatives - and I mean any alternative.

You may well be right that it's a FIGJAM problem. That doesn't alter the fact that the selectors have seen fit to avoid selecting him at every possible opportunity.
