I think it's more dangerous and stupid to ignore that there are some groups who hold beliefs that are not compatible with where most of us want this country to go in future
How do you arrive at the conclusion that an entire group has beliefs that are not compatible with our way of life? Through the actions of what...1% of that groups population?

Serious question.

Should we apply that same logic to other societal groups?

How can you extrapolate when they changed it at roughly the same time. You're basing statistics off of guessing.

You made the claim that 'It was the change in interpretation of rape/sexual assault on Sweden that increased the statistics'. What evidence are you relying on for that claim?

I'd like us to screen for views on women's rights, marrying your relatives, marrying underage girls and polygamy, as well as intolerance for any other racial or religious group. We should bring in people that actually want to integrate and fewer that are likely to come here and live almost entirely within their own little enclaves, continuing practices from their old country that aren't acceptable here.

How will you screen for these views?

I'm sure there are people with methods of doing that with some amount of reliability. No effort seems to be being made at present to ween those types out. Not only that, but we support them in creating their isolated enclaves and pretend it's multiculturalism.

That would knock off a significant chunk of Australia's current population.
Yes that last one would be difficult. Maybe only those who plan to spread violence or hate against another group (it's ok to believe race X is evil as long as no action results)

To be fair, they did a survey of Muslims living in Britain and 52% said they thought that homosexuality should be illegal (compared with 5% for the rest of the population). It wasn't just that they didn't want gay marriage legalised, or that they believe homosexuality is immoral... 52% think it should be an actual crime under British law to be gay. I don't know if the figures are similar in Australia or not, but holding such archaic views on sexuality is one area where a large proportion of Muslims would not be compatible with a modern, progressive society.

Have you checked the position of white evangelicals in US? more than 2/3rd oppose homosexuality.

And they should be subject to the same tests that Fleabitten is proposing.

A good article by Andrew Bolt

"The last four terrorist attacks here have all been by Muslim refugees. Now add this "
Add the high crime rates by Muslim Lebanese and Sudanese families, many brought out as refugees, and we must ask if our refugee program is remotely sane.

Guys it is very simple put in a Trump style immigration ban. To many immigrants from this part of the world just can not fit into Australia, we do not have any responsibility to open our borders to anyone and need a immigration policy that works for us not for others.

What about the terrorist attacks by Croats in the 70s and 80s? Didn't stop us bringing them into the country.

So ? You are saying that because we made a mistake in the past we should make it again ?

The bottom line that not all but a reasonable % of immigrants from majority Muslim nations in the middle east just cant adapt to life in Australia and in some cases pose a serious national security risk more so than migrants from any other part of the word today. If mistakes were made in the past than that's unfortunate but it doesn't mean bad decisions need to be made today .

Funny you should say that, since this attitude reminds me of several terrible mistakes made in the past that we shouldn't be repeating today too.

Such as ? aren't we just dealing with the reality of the situation and I would say more than half the community would be in favour of a trump style travel ban.

You just don't understand anything do you. Remember what the non-terrorist in Melbourne said? Treatment of Muslims. So hey, let's treat them worse because that will stop things.

You're not very smart are you.

I don't think you should be having a go at anyone about understanding anything considering you don't live in Melbourne, let alone Australia.

Interesting.

So if I go to a country that is under sharia law, only 1% of the country is against homosexuals, Opressive towards women’s rights, and won’t take up violent action against homosexuals women and non believers? 1%??

The Islamic religious beliefs clash with western societies position of freedom and lifestyle.
