Carazzo seems to be a little down on last year - played ok 1st half last night and then seemed to fade out of it a bit.

Is it the curse of the B & F striking again or is it simply a case of less time in the midfield with stevens and judd present.

For what it is worth i think he is struggling a little bit adapting to a new role with less time on the ball. I also believe he is a good enough player to make this change and we will hopefully see hte best of not only him, but the carlton midfield in the second half of the year.

Oh yeah, carlton now have a ruckman - go the krueze. (off thread i know but hey)

Yes, I think with the addition of Judd and with Stevens fit and Murphy improving, Carrazzo may be taking time to adapt to his demotion in the pecking order. But, with the midfield improving throughout the year, i'm sure he will be lifted with them, and yes it was great to see Kruezer play. He slotted in brilliantly for a first game player.:)

Looks very slow and unsure

I think Carrat is better served at playing on the flanks, or a 'run-with' type role, then an actual fulltime midfield position right now ...

He wasn't nearly as bad as some of the other more expeirenced players last night IMHO -Simpson and Fisher etc.

Fisher played a dog's breakfast of a game.

Agree with all that.

Carazzo will never be a damaging player purely because his skills are very average for a AFL player, he is also not a quick player for a midfielder.

l believe his would be better suited in a back pocket or half back flank, as he can rack up lots of disposals but it is what you do with them that is important.

I hope his off form is not him skulking at his seemed demotion in the ranks. It's like Stevens and his weight.. is it because he was not picked to be captain.

We need to leak an article knocking Carazzo about his form and one on Simpson too... rev them up for next week!

So I suggest all you guys get on the talk back radio this week, telling them how unimpressed you are with Carazzo and Simpson and lets hope word spreads to them :)

I agree. Seriously, Craig Bradley should take Carrazzo under his wing for the rest of the year, and work with his on his kicking skills, with the emphasis on hitting targets. I thought his long goal last night was a nice start, and something that I wouldn't have expected from Carrazzo. For someone who gets the amount of ball he does, he needs to take his game to the next level, and start to hurt opposition clubs.

i found his foot skills disappointing as per usual...and i thought he was very lazy at times?
eg: the ramanauskas goal..carazzo could have stopped him from kicking that 50 m goal if he put in the hard yards to get there.

That's a little bit unfair if you ask me. He was trying to watch the ball in flight, and then have to turn around and chase Rama, when he was already on his bike.

i dunno, the essendon player kicking it took a while to decide to kick to Rama, and i thought during that time carazzo didnt really put the hard yards to be more closer to rama what i thought he could have...but anywayy..I guess we shouldnt be too critical on players from last nights efforts!

It's becoming more obvious to Carlton fans that Carrazzo and Simmo are fringe type players at AFL level now that we have genuinely good midfielders like Judd and Stevo and Murph showing them up.

Up until now most Blues fans have been happy coz Carrazzo and Simmo rack up pretty good possession stats on paper but they've only ever been fairly ordinary users of the ball. It's always been obvious to oppo fans why Carrazzo never got tagged even though he'd rack up 30+ touches.

Carrazzo's long goal last night was by far the best thing he has ever done skills-wise.

So anyhoo - i guess what i'm saying is i don't think Carrazzo's (and to a lesser extent Simmo) playing any worse than previously, it's just that he's being shown up for what he is by our other, better players.

Carrazzo's stats were always going to drop with Murphy, Judd and Stevens in the midfield. It comes as no suprise to me, although i'd love to see him have a standout game...

Maybe a position on the half forward line, rotating with Nick Stevens?

Playing a different roll, not getting as much of it due to those inclusions mentioned. Simple. Not a curse, just being overlooked for Judd and Stevens.

There is a genuie spot for Carrazzo as an "in and under" player shovelling the ball to Murph, Judd, Gibbs and Stevo. Unfortunately his skills let him down. I think his kicking has got worse this year, he seems to have adopted the action of both hands dropping the ball at the same time when he kicks - this style increases the chances of "skewing" the kick.

I love the guys's work rate and his whole story in general. From being dicarded by Geelong, continuing to do the hard yards to becoming a B&F winner for us - at this point of time though he faces the biggest challenge of his career - He needs to learn how to really hurt teams. And believe me he understands this and is working his arse off at it. Unfortunately to do this you need silky skills. Perhaps some time with Judd will help. I don't know.

have to agree with waitee here did not put in the hard yards and could have at least held him up.

his skills do let him down but he is a ball magnet. what the boys have to do and he has to concede is everytime he gets it he needs to handball which means we need runners there. think he should go back into the back pocket where he came of age and start to shut down some blokes again.

There was one piece of play when he was about 3 metres behind an Essendon player and didn't even try to chase after it leaving it up to someone else to do.

It looked like he couldn't be bothered and wasnt even interested in the game.

Poor effort.

You could well be talking about Scotland there. He looked disinterested last night and even shirked a couple of contests. Unforgivable. Simmo was shit last night. I thought Carrots disposal was better early.

No it was deffinately Carrots.

It was near the centre square on our CHF line and and Essendon player had just gotten a handball and was standing flat footed, Carrots was a few metres behind and din't even chase, some other poor sod had to come from further off to try and create a contest but by then the essendon player was gone and running up through the middle.

I can't say I noticed Scotland that much last night to comment on his look attitude wise.

Don't agree with all about your Simmo call. Was excellent in round one, quiet against the Saints and just had a shocker against the Bombers - though is undoubtedly a quality player, and one who would be benefited by playing in a better side, where there'll be less pressure and more room for him to go on those long runs down the wing.

Last year with Stevens out, Murphy just in his second year, Carrazzo, together with Simmo, were our midfield "guns". And a good job they did. Wth Judd, to a lesser extent, Hadley, Stevens back and Murphy maturing, Carrazzo is not the gun and doesn't get the same run in the midfield as he did last year. May be the same with Simmo and possibly Scotland (not fully sure about that one). With that, we have to expect Carrazzo's stat count may take a slight dip. We have to judge him on that expectancy as he adapts to a different "role" in the team.
