Cardeaux has gone from being beaten 6 lengths in a St. Arnaud 2000m maiden by a horse that went on to be a hurdler (and was a 7 year old with 20 starts before it won this race) to a city race where it was beaten 8 lengths, but now manages to win a Moonee Valley maiden well. Surely form turnarounds (this is one of the biggest I've seen in a long time) like this need to be investigated.

Investigated? you're joking.
Wasn't any quality in the field, it was back to 1600m, had some form behind it albeit not much and paid 7/1 to win which was fair against those.

Brilliant form?

As I said, beaten 8 lengths by a hurdler in a flat race. The closest it has ever run in a race is 4th, beaten 4 lengths in a Bendigo maiden, which isn't "brilliant" form. And considering it was beaten 8 lengths first up and 'managed' to win 2nd up in only a slightly weaker grade is a little sus.

Where did i say 'brilliant form'?

Bottom line is, there wasn't anything in that race much better, it was a crapshoot, Cardeaux's best distance is 1600m not 2000 as you are comparing to. 3 placings from 8 races, all around that distance and that level. 8/1 or whatever it was seemed about right.
