Wayne Carey appears to have again found the blind spot of the league and has somehow missed being reported - again.
This time he has taken a wild swing with an elbow and collected Matthew Robran on the back of the head. Sure Robran didn't end up with a cracked skull or even leave with the blood rule but contact was made and the strike was deliberate.
But as usual the umpires and the AFL have turned a blind eye, what a surprise. The umpire in control even stopped the game and waved his little finger at Wayne, "you naughty boy".
They sanitise the game to such an extent that you cant frown on the field anymore but this thug continues to escape any action. Almost every time he has been reported he has gotten off and he can & does get away regularly with twice the reportable actoins of any other player.
I don't believe it is a North Kangaroos thing because his teammates don't seem to get away with it. It may be a champion player bias as you rarely see the very best players reported at all. But then you rarely see any other of those players commit an offence.
But Wayne Carey does it with amazing regularity and seemingly with impunity. Don't get me wrong, I think he is the best player going around and I would love to see him in my team but this is getting beyond a joke.
There is still time for him to be cited for this one but I can't see them breaking their protected species code can you?
