Is he a case of not being developed properly by Melbourne or is he actually just not that good and a major draft blunder? In this day and age you don't expect a top 5 pick to be such a gigantic flop...
He was rated incredibly highly coming into the draft. He just can't put on weight and he plays incredibly scared. His disposal and composure is also pretty shithouse, but that's probably a confidence thing.

Sorry I meant through lack of talent as opposed to injury riddled.
Morton showed quite a bit of promise in his first season and a half, but hasn't ever really had a full preaseason and has had his share of injuries. Not to the extent of Gumby but they have hampered his development and growth quite a bit. Has talent and skills, but not much strength or 'mongrel' about him and his confidence is shot to bits after years of being played in every position but ruck and never getting much continuity in his game.

Its already happened before. I forget the player involved. Maybe Jade Rawlings?
Yep we got a pick upgrade and Jade Rawlings... i think it was we gave them 46 and they gave us 43 and Rawlings.... don't quote me on that though...

What is it with these Morton boys... all rated to highly and just spud it up compleatly.... Mitch was Servicable in the GF though did some nice things.....

The mortons needed to live next door to the selwoods or something....

I know you're a dees supporter but you could at least be objective.

Hang on you were.

Actually is there any redeeming feature about him as a footballer?

I would take him for a 3rd/4th rounder.

I think with the right mentality and a good old rocket up his arse, he could become at least a 18-23 player.

A new system, a new coach and a new attitude may help him.

He's one of those positionless guys who would rip it up in country football but make no dent in the AFL

Absolute crazy endurance, great height, cannot win a contested ball, cannot take a contested mark, poor skills for an outside player

Ok, I don't often post rumours on BF but I used to be a player sponsor at the club and I still have some contacts there. This thread gave me the shits about yet another bullshit rumour so I decided to find out for myself, but I have to stress, I won't reveal my source. Nothing will make me do that so don't ask. It's actually really big news, I've found old that he is considering leaving Melbourne to become the next yellow Wiggle. Seems the lure of wearing a skivvie is just too much. Devastated :(

Meh, all this proves is that, at least for a period, recruiters overrated certain aspects of kids over other parts, and that's been corrected. Morton would make a good marathon runner but he's a lousy footballer. I dearly hope Richmond goes nowhere near him. Surely we've learned our lesson with his brother Mitch.

The Swans added Mitch because he had proven that he can play in 08+09 with those productive 35+ goal seasons.

It was just a question of whether he would buy in. And the Sydney program might just have done it for him.

Cale has shown flashes but he hasn't yet proven anything yet. Like Mitch is no doubt talented and like Mitch needs to join a team with a great program to have any chance of making the grade. Perhaps a Geelong could be a fit.

Mitch has that figjam attitude though, he is never one short for confidence. Cale looks like a broken player, his confidence looks absolutely shot. Some players never recover from that.

Okay, then the guy taken after Gumbleton.

Anyway, I rate Cale - he had a good start to the year and will flourish at another club. Good luck to him I say, ******* whipping boy is all he is these days.

This is what killed Carl.

can't stand cale morton.

that spray that neeld gave him - 'use yr f'n right foot' - summed him up as he refused to make eye contact with his coach after such a costly turnover.

gutless.

Cale would be a decent player at a good club with a good culture like Sydney or Geelong, it's just that his work ethic and game style don't suit Melbourne at all. I still think though that he has major flaws to his game which require more than a scenery change to iron out.

What a baffling kick. None of it makes sense. The fact that he kicked it on his wrong boot even though he was in space, the fact that he actually shaped up his body to kick it to the pie player, the fact that he kicked it to a pie player who had no demon even close to him. That he walked past Neeld like some arrogant git says volumes. You may rate Cale but Melbourne don't need soft unaccountable runners in their team, they need to build their club up with more substantial footballers.
