2007 Team
B: Carrazzo, Bower, Hartlett
HB: Russell, Thornton, S.O’hAilpin
C: Simpson, Koutoufides, Walker
HF: Fisher, Kennedy, Whitnall
F: Betts, Fevola, Waite
Foll: McLaren, Bentick, Stevens
I/C: Bryan, Murphy, Scotland, Lappin

Please Note: The above team for 2007 was done according to our current list. Also with Kouta and Lappa looking likely to retire at the end of 2007, this will allow two spots into the side.

The backup
Houlihan, Blackwell, Saddington, Teague, Wiggins, Edwards, Raso, Aisake O’hAilpin and Flint. The last 4 are still developing, learning the game (Edwards, Raso, O’hAilpin, Flint) and are all yet to make their AFL debuts.

The future of the Carlton Footy Club isn’t as bleak as it seems. Like many Carlton fans, I am really looking forward to what the future holds for this great club. GO BLUES!!

Murphy on the bench? And where is Gibbs? Blackwell and Houlihan backups??? Hrrrrm

My 2007 Round One team

FB: Carazzo, Thornton, O'Hailpin
CHB: Walker, Whitnall, Scotland
C: Gibbs, Murphy, Simpson
CHF: Fisher, Kennedy, Houlihan
FF: Betts, Fevola, Lappin

R: Bryan, Kouta, Stevens

I/C: Bower, Bentick, Blackwell, Wiggins

E: Russell, Jackson, McLaren

Was very hard to come up with that team, which shows our depth is getting better...

Would love to see Aisake, Edwards, Flint and Raso push their way into that team too.

I told you
We are delighted that Cain has agreed to join the Carlton Football Club and subject to all the AFL approvals he will officially become a Carlton player following the pre-season draft in December," Carlton football operations manager Grant Williams said on Thursday.

"At 24 years of age Cain has a lot of football in front of him and we look forward to him being a part of the Carlton team for many years to come."

B: Carrazzo Thornton O'hAilpin
HB: Lappin Whitnall Scotland
C: Simpson Stevens Walker
HF: Fisher Waite Koutoufides
F: Kennedy Fevola Betts
FOLL: Ackland Gibbs Murphy
INTER: Bentick, Bower, Houlihan, DeLuca
EMERG: Wiggins, Blackwell, McLaren

Not a bad line up IMO:thumbsu:

2007 team
B Russell, S O’hAilpin, Thornton
HB Bower, Waite, Lappin
C Simpson, Stevens , Walker
HF Fisher, Kennedy , Blackwell
F Whitnall, Fevola, Betts
R Ackland, Bryce Gibbs, Murphy
Int, Scotland, Bentick, Kouta, Bryan

2007 team
Russell, up and coming player will step up next year and show us what he can do
S O’hAilpin, He is tall and getting a bigger body so can free up Thornton
Thornton,Is a top class player and is very attacking from the back line.

Bower, In what I have seen so far looks very good and will be very attacking from here
Waite, Is tall fast and a good kick in play doesn’t kick enough goals for a forward
Lappin, this is where he plays best AA

Simpson, great year last year and will get better
Stevens, hoping this year they let him play football again and not tagging
Walker, Must go into the midfield and show us how good he is

Fisher, Injury has keep him from doing his best, with a good preseason he can be anything.
Kennedy, How good will he be, has great skills is fast for a big man and can kick goals.
Blackwell, fast, very clever and a good thinker next year he will show us how good he is

Whitnall, to slow to play on the top forwards didn’t beat one last year only played well when free across H/B but can kick goals and that is what we need him to do
Fevola, is just great
Betts, fast and can kick the goals we all go to the football to see. Will get better as well

Ackland, can run all day and will be a good handy pick up
Bryce Gibbs, This guy is first class and will play from round 1
Murphy, how good is he was just getting going this year WOW can’t wait

Int
Bentick,A very good tagger and will be better next year
Kouta, will be great coming of the bench and can play anywhere we need him
Bryan, hoping he has a great preseason so he can show us what he has, I like him
Scotland, he going to be pushing for his spot and isn’t that a great thing if he has to be pushing for a spot
The Backup
Hartlett, Edwards, are up and coming players with a full preseason under them will be putting pressure on getting a game as well

Carrazzo, Houlihan, Wiggins,Flint and other new draft picks will be there as back ups

This is a team that will get better in 2008 and we will only lose 1-2 players from it

THE FUTURE LOOKS GOOD Go Blues

be good to see Flint in A Navy Blue Jumper from 2007 & Beyond :thumbsu:
don't expect him to go anywhere in the near future he'll be a long time Blue he;ll be a 10 year player

B: Carrazzo Thornton Bower
HB: Scotland Whitnall OHailpin
C: Simpson Stevens Waite
HF: Fisher Kennedy Houlihan
F: Kouta Fevola Betts
FOLL: Ackland, Walker, Murphy
INTER: Bentick, Lappin, Gibbs, McClaren

Would love to play Whitnall forward but just can't justify it with Bower and Ohailpin still inexperienced. Also with Kouta (resting) and Kennedy up in the forward line, there is no room. Also wanted to play both Bower and OHailpin in the half back line but went with O'Hailpin, hoping he can turn into a mobile Goodes type in the lon term. Bentick versus Blackwell is also a close call.
Team is looking a lot healthier now compared to two years ago thougjh.

Waite will be tried at CHB as Whitnall will only go back there to help out this year as he is far to slow to hold down CHB if we want to try and win games
O'hailpin will be turned into picking up the tall forward as he will be up in weight next year so Thornton can have a more attacking roll

Carlton are doing a great job with the list this year and getting rid of all the dead wood that we have had around the club for the last few years

2-3 weeks ago we were looking like crap and now the list is looking good some champs are back at the club and everything is starting to turn around

So I think with Gibbs to come in and some other top draft picks we are only 2 years from being a top team again

But I hope FEV doesn't drink again and Alex gives him a good kick up the A**

I hope Waite does...but I saw him interviewed at the club and he said he had been asked to play in the HB line before last season and said he wasn't interested. Maybe he will have to...
Another thought is maybe to play Thornton at half back and Bower and O'Hailpin on the last line of defence.

He better get used to playing down there because he just hasn't grasped where to run as a CHF. A lot of ex-footballers compare him to a young Matthew Richardson in that his speed, endurance and ability are without question, if you watch him live at the ground, The problem is he does a lot of wasted running, in direct contradiction with Whitnall who does significantly less running for better results because of his ability to read the play. Playing at CHB he'll be better able to read the play.

Waite is not a forward and wil play H/B which is an attacking pos in today's game
I will be furious if they waste every more time with him up forward as Kennedy will be the CHF

THE FUTURE LOOKS GOOD Go Blues

Maybe the wing is a good compromise...that way there would only be mild displeasure on both sides.
I think he lacks the judgment as a forward and for the same reason would only be lockdown type player as a defender, rather being creative and able to cover other peoples' stuff up (like whitnall). Whenever I've been most impressed by him is when he is running through the middle and flanks towards goal...I think he would be big, fast and very hard to match up on running along the wing. Would be able to cover a direct opponent and outmuscle and outmark them in a contest.

I think this year with a full preseason under him he will be a bigger and better player and as you said he loves running though the midfield
Look he is a very good player and I just think he can turn in to a top class CHB which we need
Pagan has said we will be at H/B next year

I have problem with Waite in a key position. I think he's always going to be a player who drifts in and out of a game. Albeit majestically when he does. I prefer him on the wing with Walker on the other wing. They can then both drift forward and back as the game dictates.I think any opposition would have trouble matching this line. They all kick deep and long.
I don't think they will have "Gibbs" in every game. I think he'll play off the bench for a hile until he builds up.
We need to play some of our 2006 recruits but must give them some support with some experienced players like Saddington, Houlihan, Scotland,Stephens, Kouta & Lappin.
Therefore my opening team would be:-
Scotland - Hartlett - O'hAilpin
Bower - Whitnall - Thornton
Waite - Stephens - Walker
Lappin - Kennedy - Fisher
Bryant - Fevola - Betts

Acland - Murphy - Simpson

Bench: Koutoufidis, Gibbs, Wiggins, Saddington

Carrazzo, Thornton, O'hAilpin
Bower, Whitnall, Scotland
Walker, Stevens, Waite
Houlihan, Kennedy, Fisher
Betts, Fevola, Kouta

Ackland, Murphy, Simpson

Bentick/Russell, Hartlett, Lappin, Gibbs

This is quite difficult to do. We actually have some good young players coming through.

Russell, Wiggins, Blackwell and Bryan - i couldn't find a spot for.

I'm not a Nick Stevens fan either. Kind of hope he gets injured, adn then we promote Jackson,a nd let our younger kids play, instead of some guy that has no passion for the club.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a big fan of Stevo's either but I would never wish that he got injured :thumbsd:

I used to think it was a lack of passion as well but I am not too sure. I mean, look what he sacrificed for a Wizard Cup Grand Final.

He was injured for most of the year as well and I honestly believe a fit Stevo playing alongside good midfielders will bring out the best in him.

i wonder how long it would take if it been any of the other 15 clubs if they were in the same Situation, probly more vic clubs eg Western bulldogs were etc

What a silly thing to say Stevens is top class and will have a great year next
