Good article about women in the footy media with lots of reference to the ABC radio team including Arnell, and Parkin's assessment that she's a coach in the making.

Personally, I didn't like Underwood on Foxtel in the AFLW season - barracked too much, didn't learn the players names and not supported by proper special comments folk in the call. I listened to her on ABC during a recent game and she was quite good. Professional caller, and there are too few of those.

Underwood isn't good on television, because she commentates the same as on radio. As a result she talks too fast and with too much detail about each play. No doubt she understands the game, but needs to learn when silence is good.

Cometti was brilliant on tv because he knew when to shut up and understood the importance of adding colour and intelligence. McAveney used to be good as well until his brain turned to mush when Cyril Rioli joined Hawthron.

Well done to Brianna (Navy) Davey
, who came 2nd in the VFLW B & F.

Losing out to Katie Brennan is no shame, either. Brennan is a superstar, also playing in the best team. Amazingly Brennan won quite easily despite missing 4 matches of the 14-match season. Holy smokes.

Brennan may be good in the lower league, but boy she's been a disappointment in the AFLW. I pick Bri over her any day.

Played injured for most of the last AFLW season. Would expect her to perform a lot better this year.
