I think most Collingwood supporters know exactly where we are, we have thick skins, we know we lose many Grand Finals, we don't try brag about how we beat teams in the 2nds, like some here do.

I mean I read the Carlton centenary book (i think it was) and in that it said something like, to be classed as a Carlton great, you had to play well against Collingwood, go figure.
Rivalry mate that's what we're all here for.

Winning games isnt being successful?

Pies the only team with 1500 wins (1576)
Pies the only team to make finals 80 times (82)
I guess it all comes down to personal preference on what is successful. To me, the ultimate success of a season is winning the premiership. That is success. Anything less can be a bad to very good season, but it wasn't a success.

There isn’t any hope when it comes to Collingwood exiting the finals.

Most of us just sit back with a six-pack and witness the inevitable.

Then 5 minutes later watch as a convoy of shaky Commodores roll on to the casino.

Making finals is a successful season.
Making a GF is a tremendous season.
Winning a GF is the ultimate.

Pies have had more successful seasons than anybody.

Yep, you could call premierships the ultimate, but spoons are the pits, the opposite, so you may have 1 more premiership, but you also have 3 more spoons, so by my calculations you are still behind.

'Facts are, we have more flags, while you have lost more GFs than any other side. See how it works?'

Got to love this rationale.

Carlton have one more flag than Collingwood.

But by saying 'Collingwood have lost more Grand Finals than any other side' - is that meant to be an insult to a Collingwood supporter?

By playing in Grand Finals, it means you see your team win a lot of games of footy, and a lot of big finals.

What a great run for our money we regularly get as Collingwood supporters.

Collingwood have in fact won a premiership much more recently than Carlton too.

Whilst, as I said earlier, there are many Carlton supporters on this website who have never seen their club contend for a premiership, let alone win one.

The closest many of you Carton supporters have got to an enjoyable September is cheering on Collingwood's opponents, hoping to keep Collingwood at bay of the magical #16.

But I'm sure you all enjoy it...

You mean you see the Pies being a participant rather than a contender

"Is that how it works"

Read the OP, the past means little, even though our record over "history" is still in our favour

BTW, I have been around for 8 flags. Much more "enjoyable" than 2

Did we just participate in 2010, 15 years after Carlton's most recent flag.

See every year, there are 2, 3, 4 or so contenders. The rest of the teams participate.

I understand how you as a Carlton supporter struggle to understand the distinction.

As I said, easy to draw a line at any period in time, but generalising that Carlton supporters haven't seen more than 1 flag in their lifetime is laughable

But, given this is about 2023, will be very interesting how both sides perform

Yeah, not sure I generalised.

I stated fact.

27 years since Carlton's last flag, so any posters younger than 30 aren't old enough to have experienced watching their team winning a flag.

And anyone in their 50s has seen 2 Pie flags while the equivalent Carlton supporter has seen 8

But again these facts have nothing to do with 2023

Finishing higher or lower is just loser talk to me amongst the 17 losers every year

I'd be disappointed to see Collingwood win another flag before Carlton is how I see things. Of course, I rejoice in Collingwood losses - love them whenever they happen - but especially in a final and by a lone point....that was very nice and actually made up for the last round loss plus some - because in the last round Carlton had most of it s midfield out and Collingwood was at full strength....and only won the game due to umpire error - everyone knows this.

As things stand- here is the ledger: Cartlon 16 Collingwood 15.
