This will promptly be moved to the draft board, but anyway.
1st round - ruckman, Woods, Deluca, Meason
2nd round- Best player available
3rd round- Blackwell
4th round-
5th round-
6th round- reject, maybe a ruckman
7th round- reject, probably J.Houlihan

Why would we draft a ruckmen @ 9?

Ruckmen take 4 years.........surely we could pick up a ruckmen at pick 25....go for the best available with 9.......if someone like Meesen is the best player available then pick him.......

The three good ruckman wont be there. Adelaide, Richmond and Hawthorn would take them before pick 25. Who cares about how long they take. Collingwood took a skinny ruckman at pick 1, so they do get picked up early sometimes.

Was it a good move for them to pick Fraser @ 1? ;)

If you draft the best available and you have too many of that type of player in a few years time, it means you can trade one of them off for something good.......the cats had/have an abundance of midfielders and it allowed them to snare ottens

Kicked 3 goals in the first grand final and was best on ground for us in the 2nd grand final, he was one of the few that could hold his head up.... so to answer your question....... yes

Well, by your own admission, he should just be coming into his own, having lost last year, his fourth season, to injury basically.

No. But there have been a few other mediocre number 1 picks. The Pies were just unlucky. The other glaring example is Travis Johnston. Draft ratings are becoming much more scrutinized, so these clangers will be less common. Still probably fair to say that rucks take longer to develop and the good ones seems to be over 25. :)

BUt is he a real ruckmen? Does he consistently win the hitouts? Is he a midfielder trapped in a ruckmen's body?

Fraser and Didak are 'duds'???

You really need to watch some more footy mate..

If you had any intelligence at all you'd throw up Danny Roach, Bo Nixon, Luke Shackleton....bloody hell there are enough to choose from, yet you name a couple of the only good kids we've drafted!!

knowing carlton they'll probably pick a dud :D

Fortunately those days are gone at Carlton, they now have a Recruiting Manager that knows what he's doing. Unfortunately that isn't the situation at Collingwood!

Do you pick HFF's with no. 1 draft picks?
Riewoldt?

Played HFF for a year or 2 didn't he?

Besides - why do you care? If Josh is this 'dud' that you keep implying, then sit back and enjoy.

Meanwhile, I'll sit back and enjoy the silkiest, most talented ruckman I've seen at Collingwood ever. (Admittedly I'm only 20, but it's still a fact)
