OK back after a hellish week (topped off by dropping one of those old TV's on my big toe). Had Big Footy time, just not anywhere near enough to finish this. If Mitch hasn't been online since the 12th I'll finish his picks. I thought he was going really well, so it's a shame to see him go for whatever reason. Updating teams now.

This has been an exceptional game, and it would seem only fair if a truly exceptional winner emerged. I would like to vote for a person whose victory would be a fitting tribute to his excellent contributions to these boards.

I vote for Thy. It would drive him him absolutely nuts - (can't wait for the new thread title - Thy wins Carlton Board draft game!!!!).

C'mon people, get on board.

(and then maybe after the season, when judgements made have had a chance to be proven right or wrong, maybe we could have another vote amongst the rest of us).

I must say I am extremely disappointed with the result of this game after time and effort was spent structuring a team.

Surely it's not too hard to post a poll so we can get the voting under way?

Team:

FB: James Frawley
CHB: Ben Reid
C: Domenic Cassisi
CHF: Jarrad Waite
FF: Chris Dawes
RU: Todd Goldstein
RR: Jimmy Bartel
RO: Shaun Grigg

Had a look at all the teams, and i think its clear i have the spine with the most potential, and probably the best current form as well.

Are you on something BiB?

Full Back: Scott D. Thompson
Centre Half Back: Troy Chaplin
Centre: Jack Redden
Centre Half Forward: Jack Watts
Full Forward: Jack Riewoldt
Ruck: Nic Nat / Ben McEvoy
Ruck Rover: Brent Stanton / Nathan Jones
Rover: Luke Shuey

I'll give you full back due to age and recognition though Scott Thompson is much better than anyone would ever give him credit for (one of the most criminally underrated players in the AFL) (0-1). I don't rate Ben Reid as much as a lot do whereas I'd give my left nut to get Chaplin to Carlton (1-1). I'll take Redden over Cassisi easily (2-1 W). At this stage Watts is as good as Jarrad and has a lot more room to grow so the advantage is his (3-1). Jack Riewoldt is twice the footballer than Dawes (4-1). Goldstein is a good ruck but mine are better (5-1). No question Bartel is an absolute gun and would double Stanton/Jones (5-3). Luke Shuey > Shaun Grigg easily (6-3).

I'd suggest my spine has a lot more potential than yours. I'm also younger aside from at KPD.

And I clearly have the best midfield, which means I would win most games.

Judd, Watson, Cooney, Wells.

Beat that.

The backline is clearly the question mark, but with the clearly dominant midfield and pace to burn across the ground, would be hard to beat. Add to that a fairly handy forward line of two of the probable best KPFs, Karnezis (absolute jet of a HF) and Higgins/Krakour class causing havok.

Very useful lineup, and especially so for being seeded last.

My team is built around versatility and flexibility of game plan. ..

Defence - Experienced hard campaigners with a splash of youth
Midfield - Bats deep, first choice mids would rival most teams but its the second and third rotation that will win the day
Forward - Possibly a weak point but my midfield heavy team and quality mediums will make up for any lack of KPP power. .. Mitch/Mumford swapping forward is still a handful. ..
Bench - All for midfield rotation but with a touch of flexibility and a mix of youth
Depth - Good mix of youth, hard work and flexibility (Cam Pederson a personal favourite here)

DEFENCE
Dale Morris :: Daniel Merrett :: Jed Adcock
Luke Hodge :: Ben Rutten :: Matthew Broadbent

CENTRE
Nathan Van Berlo :: Luke Ball :: Anthony Morabito

FORWARDS
Mitchell Duncan :: Jesse White :: Adam Goodes
Stewart Crameri :: Mitch Clark :: Ben McGlynn

RUCK
Shane Mumford, Bernie Vince, Brent Harvey
(2nd Ruck: Mitch Clark, Adam Goodes, Liam Picken)

BENCH
Liam Picken, Tony Armstrong, Thomas Liberatore, Matthew Wright(SUB)

EMERGENCIES
David Ellard, David Mackay, Luke McGuane

DEPTH
David Ellard - Midfield / Forward
David Mackay - Midfield / Defense
Luke McGuane - Medium-Tall Defender
Jason Blake - Utility
Cameron Pederson - Utility
Jamie Bennell - Small Forward
Gary Rohan - Small-Medium Forward
Kurt Aylett - Developing midfielder

I already can't remember who I drafted, but lets have another look at all these at the end of this season.

Such a great game, will definitely be a part of it next time, whether we start from scratch or continue managing these teams.

But yeah, the destination didn't do justice to the journey - took too long and needed to be some sort of polling or some measure while everyone was still engaged. Not criticising anyone in particular - I didn't exactly roll a poll out myself - but as it stands everyone's just gonna like their own team the best, regardless of other's arguments!

By the end of the year we'll be able to see clearer which sides had the best season or are better placed for the future.
