Carlton chasing Thompson

Just listening to KB's show on SEN and he had Krakers from inside football say that he heard from a leading figure at Carlton that they are into Thompson to coach next year and that Thompson is hungry to do so.

Usually I would dismiss this as rubbish straight away but I remembered in an interview Thompson had on SEN last week where he said - "by next year it will be three preseasons with Hird and that should be enough". At the time I took this as meaning the players will have had enough and will be at the required level but now I am wondering whether he mean't that he has helped Hird with three preseason and that should be enough to pass over the reigns.

I'd seriously hope not, not at Carlton.

I could still respect a triple premiership player and premiership captain of ours when he coached Geelong, but I don't think I could stomach it if he went to Carlton. If he turn coated and went there (it feels so dirty even suggesting it), I certainly hope he is never again referred to as Bomber, even if he had the nickname before he became a Bomber.
