News Carlton Football Club: Debt free and record membership.

Given the fixturing ride they have been given despite being hopeless, it's not overly amaz8ng.
Imagine if they got the fixture of other struggling teams
We had one year where we got too many Friday games. Even we lamented this. Other than that we had to fashion an identity of family participation based on an extended series of afternoon games. Wake up clown.

Dogs did not even need covid help. Only one of six to be on their own. Dogs are not in debt. Dogs are Pookie free.

If only the Dogs were gifted commercial fixuring like Carlton usually are (despite being so rubbish on field) and weren't forced into a sh*t marvel staduim deal. We would not need compensation.
We have also been tied to the Marvel deal. We took no COVID help and aren’t gifted any fixture help, other than starting the comp because we have been poor on field and rightfully so. Poor Doggies.

Make and win finals and win premierships and then I will get all warm and fuzzy, not before, especially after some of the sh*t football and stupid team selections I saw so often last year. On field success is where it is at for me.
Bookmarked...

Need to translate their off field success to on field success. Make a Final and win a flag in the next couple of years.
I think just entrenching the club as a finals playing team over the next few years is a more realistic goal.

I haven’t heard this story. Spill!
Some Essendon supporter(s) doxxed the guy who was running the Twitter page about how long it had been since they'd won a final and basically posted his personal details and a bunch of them threatened him to the point of shutting everything down.
Ironically, when one of the main protagonists was 'outed', he wasn't too fond of the attention, closed his account and opened a new one under a different name.
Even some of the regular Carlton bashing Essendon fans who used to travel around in a pack with this bloke and tag each other in posts to gang up on opposition supporters started to distance themselves from him.

Has anyone else taken up the torch of "days since Essendon won a final"?

“We don’t rebuild at Carlton...”

Carlton also don't hire 'sport scientists' as part of the core coaching team ..or coaches who state on National TV that they will be going into the 'ice' business -but hey maybe that is just Carlton being too old-fashioned - and Geelong just being Geelong.

To be fair, we all laughed at Richmond when they suggested that was an aim a few years back yet here we are. If a team like Richmond can do it, surely a bigger club like Carlton can.

Lol it's pretty well known that WB were shafted on the Marvel Stadium deal a lot more heavily than Carlton was. Don't be disingenuous.

Do you believe in miracles, yes! If Richmond can do it then anyone can do it.

Compelling argument.

When Gale made that statement we had already recruited 2 future goats, 2 future brownlow medalists AND a future dual coleman.

Carlton can learn from that, with recruiting and development set as high priorities.

If people are laughing at your aspirations then that simply means you are probably a fair way off it in the eyes of neutral observers.

This is actually a good thing because it helps guard against delusion and irrational exuberance, which can then lead to catastrophic decision making based on emotion.

You take the feedback on board and then set more realistic goals.

What you don't do is tee off on some poor humble Richmond supporter because he had a bit of a chuckle. :(

No issue with that, we are locked in too. Still have the 30000 minimum bums on seats before profit deal. We have been rubbish for a fair bit of that time so we didn’t draw big numbers either.

The original 'Days since Essendon won a final' account was managed by a Richmond supporter named Ryan.

Pretty sure someone opened a new version. Not sure if it's still going though.

Yes, there is a main account with 1,000+ followers keeping people updated. But they are not quite as invested in social circles like Ryan was. And the boundaries of their humour aren't as clear.

By 'national concept', you mean the AFL taxing Vic clubs through stadium deals far worse than anyone else gets in order to pay for the expansion?

The two tier stadium deals in Melbourne are certainly a problem with some local clubs profiting from others.
What side of that ledger are the Blues on, no matter they're headed in the right direction ( subject to the devil in the detail).

No local clubs profit from these deals...Some are less screwed over than others, but even the best do noticably worse than the worst non Melbourne clubs.
