Carlton Football Club Future Arrangements with AFL

“In respect to Princes Park there are a number of options that will be discussed with the AFL in due course. The ground lends itself as a third AFL venue in Melbourne and with many matches, including AFL NAB Challenge Series games, VFL matches, Under Age Championship matches, TAC Under 18 matches, Multicultural football, Women’s Football Championships, Amateur matches and other community matches being played on the high quality surface.

People wanted truth and transparency and they seem to have got it. The only problem is they didn't get it earlier when they wanted it. Perhaps patience should be practiced more.

Where is that main board thread that says there is no reason for a third ground and no way the AFL can make money out of it?

AFL NAB Challenge Series games, VFL matches, Under Age Championship matches, TAC Under 18 matches, Multicultural football, Women’s Football Championships, Amateur matches and other community matches being played on the high quality surface.
Carlton couldn't arrange these games for themselves as some of them depend on the AFL's go ahead. With the AFL in control, they can schedule heaps of things at Princes Park and maybe even turn a profit. Better still, if Carlton can maintain a social club at the venue when these events are on, we will turn a profit ourselves.

Yes Surrey but there was not always enough room for a 3rd AFL venue controlled by Carlton. To hold many of those events Collo is talking about, the AFL would have to sanction them and other bodies would be guided by the AFL's wishes. If the AFL control the ground and profit from the ground, they can make money from it. Instead of the AFL taking over the lease, they should send those events our way so we can get out of the mire without spending AFL money.

You make a very good point ODN. Hadn't really considered that that might be an option that both the AFL and CFC would look at.

Now that the AFL has hired someone to do some due dilligence on taking over the PP Lease, IMO, we can almost be assured that they will come to the party in some form.

Sorry ODN, but the AFL and CFC could easily work together to hold those "functions" without one controlling the other. The AFL do it now with the MCG & TD. They could do it better with Carlton even. The AFL want everything there way or else, this is why they punished us and will continue to embarass us now that we are on our knees.
Don't ever think they are doing us a favour, they just won't.
