I've heard from several carlton fans there morals to play finals footy next season. The obvious inclusions of Judd & stephens will obviously make a difference & make like easier for Murphy etc but that alone won't make you a finals team. I'd like to know what other kids & or experienced players will improve & how will your defence inprove so you dont leak massive scores, i think carlton could be around the mark but there are just to many kids i dont know enough about for eg. i hear young Jamieson being bandied about as your FB & i saw him once but didn't see enough to form an opinion, will he be the answer? so i'd like to know why you think your team will play finals or weather you think there not yet good enough.

Setanta or Jamison (although the latter needs to put on some weight) are definitely big possibilities for key defense while Waite will either play CHB or CHF.

I think our new game plan + a better midfield and the development of the above guys will help us to stop having those massive scores against us.

Gibbs is one who I think could also really step up and star next year and Hadley could be a steal if he can recover from his knee injuries and get up to the level he used to be at. Grigg is another roughy who I think could really come on next year. Apparently very highly rated at the club. Probably the other big one that people expect to step up is Walker.

id have to say walker. will absolutely dominate next year! put him in the dam centre

Yep, Walker is the key. With Stevens and Judd coming in and pressure being taken off other players, walker is the one who can really put the wind up the opposition. Highly aggressive player who has spent his whole career being defensive and will flourish in a less restrictive role.

Walker has the evasive ability of Judd, fantastic goal sense and best leap in the team. Letting this guy go mental, with out any tag pressure thanks to Stevens and Judd is going to see him go ballistic.

Then think of of Murph, Gibbs, Simpson, etc......

Its not about Judd and Stevens fixing everything its about what their inclusions will mean to others...Judd and Stevens will get the 1st & 2nd taggers each week...that means Murphy, Carrazzo, Simpson, Hadley will be more free to be damaging....they have the skill to damage teams and now it will be easier...considering in 2007 Murphy & Carrazzo probably got the 1st & 2nd taggers.

Add in people like Walker and Scotland and the pace and skill the midfield will be strong....giving the ball to Fev, Fisher and Waite will be happening more often than 2007.

Defensive will be a tough assigment, but many players got games in 2007 which allowed them to learn what is needed to be an AFL backman...Setanta will be down there more in 2007 so hopefully they can be stronger than years gone by.

and hopefully you Hawks won't smash us again!!

If you havent seen enough of Carlton to form an opinion why give one????????

The backline in a few years could look like this IMO-

B: Anderson Jamison O'hAilpin
HB: Scotland Thornton Grigg/Walker

Obviouslt thats a lot of ifs and I've probably missed somebody off the top of my head but thats just how I see it. Also there is a lot of 'ifs' in there but hopefully it will work itself out.

Dude, we won't play finals footy next year so we certainly aint morals. We'll improve considerably, I believe, but not enough to play finals.

Actually we might be able to sneak 8th next year if we have a good run out from the start of the season. Some people have been suggesting that we might be able to get to the weagles in Perth without dropping a game.

There will most certainly be a couple of matches through the middle of the season where we will get a few more wins and if one of the teams we play at the end of the year has a bad run, we could just sneak it in.

Failing that, if we finish the year 9th on the ladder, there are going to be a lot of teams running scared of us in 2009.

IMO we are a long way short off being "good things" for anything.
Yep, we will have a great mid field set up, but we are missing the main ingrediants to be a consistant good side.
We are missing "Big Key Position Players"
IMO Waite is not a KPP although he can play there sometimes.
Sentana is more a BP player on the resting opposition talls.
Therefore in a perfect world we are short of a FB, CHB & CHF.
The other issue is that with so many new and young players we are going to have to continually "mix & Match" until we find the right "combination" of players to have on the park. In today's footy that is one of the most important criteria.

I demand we improve across the board.Physically and mentally each player needs to show that they can step up.If this occurs then the ladder position will improve. If we don't make the finals it is not all lost but if we do not improve than all this excitement had not been realised. The fans don't want to turn into Dockers supporters:promised a lot and delivered bugger all: all dreams unfullfilled. We are all sick of losing, but we don't expect a premiership in 2008.Just get in and have a red hot go!
LOng days and happy nights

I really think Murphy could have quite a big impact in 2008. Judd and Stevens will take the first 2 taggers, with Simpson and Carrazzo also attracting some attention as well. Murphy could quite easily go through the season without being taggesd, and pick up 20-25 touches each week.

Look for Gibbs to have a good year next year as well. Will spend more time in the midfield as well, with stints on the HFF as well.

Setanta ia a KPD, don't worry about that.

Waite is also big enough to play KP.

I'm hoping Austin may be our future CHB.

mine would be
B: Anderson Jamieson Thornton
HB: Bower O'Haiphin Scotland

It is being mentioned over, and over and over......one more time eh.

New for this year:

Judd, Stevens, Hadley.

Walker, Murphy, Simpson, Carrazzo, Gibbs not being held accountable.

Really,...... who gives a shit who is down back.

i personally think we're not good enough yet. we'd need a completely injury free season to make the finals but obviously that's impossible. our defence is a big liability for us atm but at least next year we'll have a bit more pressure on the opposition midfield to make the defence's job easier. our ruck stocks are still 2-3 years away from being elite. our forward line is good with fevola and fisher but we really need a presence at CHF. after looking at our fixture, i'm expecting 9-11 wins for us next season.
