Charlie isn't the 2nd Kouta....

....Kouta was the first Charlie..... :)
Anyone hear/read interview with Brent Stanton in last day or so?

Apparently said Charlie will be an elite "inside midfielder". Has all the attributes. Training with mids. Finished top 3 in running drills?

Surprising isn't it :p

Didn't he say that as more of a long term expectation? And that in the short term he was going to stay a forward?

...or did I completely misinterpret that last night when I listened to it.

That's about right. Also said they are still working out roles for players?

Reading between the lines seems as though Charlie will spend time doing both in 2018 whilst developing more into a mid that can go forward. Interesting that he sees him as a big "inside mid"

IMO has the ability to play inside and outside and be very damaging at both

Yep, I hear you there. While I'm not likening him directly (or trying to add to the hype) but I see Charlie in the future being more of a Bontempelli mid/fwd hybrid kind of player except he probably spends equal time in each rather than a Cripps/JPK/etc inside mid who can go forward occasionally to rest. Bont tends to spend more time forward than guys like Fyfe or Danger and also doesn't tend to have as many possessions as them but when he's 'on' they tend to be really effective and influential possessions.

OMFG, a Carlton recruiter getting poached?!?!?!

What a time to be alive!!!!

#SOSforPM

EDIT: ODN beat me to it.
Mind you, an ex assistant coach is a recruiter at St Kilda.

Staff going up in the world is a new one though.

Carlton staff getting recruited by other teams. A testament to Silvagni that one of his scouts has a list manager job now.

I do hope Power isn't the difference though.
Don't know anything about what Sam Power did for us but just looking at his job title with us and the one he has at the Bulldogs, looks like a big, big promotion to me.

Went from Pro Scout to GM - List & Recruiting...same level as SOS.

Don't really seem to hear much about Sam Power at all, not even from posters on here...can't see his deflection being the difference.

Barker on SEN this morning.

Marchbank & Plowman options to replace Docherty. Doc is our Luke Hodge

Good defences need more than one general

Cripps is a bull. Done 90% of pre season. Leadership & presence

Charlie Curnow will be a significant player with endurance & speed. Very good contested player who can go through midfield

Liam Jones. Challenge is to back up last year. Expects similar or better

Barker has filled role of Neil Craig in regards to mechanics of game & high performance. Bolts right hand man

Bolts is passionate. High octane and learning to control emotion on game day

Picked out Harry McKay as biggest improver with body shape this year. Going well and should play a fair bit this year

Going on the multiple generals comment, my gut feel is that Simmo may go back and play that deepest defender sweeper role and Plowman becomes the other general/organiser. Leaves Marchy to focus on watching his man and getting those intercepts.

I think I'm more excited about seeing a fit Cripps run out in round 1 than I am for any other player. Even more than the new kids like Kennedy, Lang or Dow. Think about Murph's start this year after his first full preseason in years... expecting big things from the man mountain.

Still expecting him to be a CHF with a license to roam wherever the f*** he wants but will get the occasional burst through the guts. I'm almost thinking the best approach may be to not start him in the square but have him move onto the ball around stoppages the try and create mismatches and confusion... see if he can drag his man into the contest with him. I hope so. Onwards and upwards.

Awesome to hear. Realistically if he gets a good run this year being injury free it'd be great to see him hit the 15 game mark. 2018 is his 'get established' year and then 2019 is when we see him start to really turn it on *touch wood*.

Only heard the last couple of minutes of this interview with Barks this morning.
Thanks for filling in the gaps for me.
