I think I'm more excited about seeing a fit Cripps run out in round 1 than I am for any other player. Even more than the new kids like Kennedy, Lang or Dow. Think about Murph's start this year after his first full preseason in years... expecting big things from the man mountain.
Agree so much with this, I am looking forward to seeing the improvement of the youngsters, but I want to see Crippa just smash this season.

It's behind that damn paywall.

Just type the article title into google - Chris Cavanagh looks at eight reasons why Carlton will improve in 2018

CHARLIE CURNOW

Former Hawthorn champion Dermott Brereton has said Curnow has the ability to be the best player in the competition within two years. In just his second season, the versatile 194cm big man finished 10th in Carlton’s best-and-fairest with 20 goals from 21 games while also averaging 14 disposals, almost six marks and nearly five score involvements. It was an impressive year from a player who still has just 27 games to his name and does not turn 21 until February but you sense it is just the tip of the iceberg for what could be ahead in 2018

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-12-21/hes-got-super-athleticism-massive-tank-speed

Speaking on SEN on Thursday, Barker said the 20-year-old key forward, with 27 games under his belt, would be a significant player for Carlton this year.

"We don't want to place too much pressure on him, but he's got super athleticism, a massive tank and some speed too. He's gifted in that respect.
"But he has an innate ability in the contest and also reading the ball. He's good in the air, but there's nothing stopping him from going through the midfield and playing as a contested player in there," he said.

Speedster Nick Graham -Does he even watch football.
Casboult desperately need a tall for assistance close to goal. Strange comment after the big wrap for Curnow earlier in the article.

They really do pump out mediocre analysis at the Roar

I didn't remember reading this when I read it, so I checked.

The article doesn't say this anywhere.

Fair enough to criticize where it's due, but it's unlikely to have edited it out; I've tried, when I had an article published, to get a mistake or two edited out without success.

Edit: sorry Sector, I was wrong

Last chance
Having scraped 38 games together from his five years on the list, Nick Graham is facing a year in which he must perform to earn a contract beyond 2018. The speedy midfielder has never played more than 12 matches in a season, and is always on another level when playing in the VFL.

I wrote a Carlton season preview on The Roar a few years back. Looking back now it makes me look like a fool despite having over 100 comments. Point is that most articles on there are written out of emotion and seem to include more opinion than fact so I wouldn't rely on them as a trusted source.

There is a place for site like the Roar (most of us read it) with so much media behind paywalls and the articles are often better thought out than the HS. Lasts years take was pretty hard on Carlton and we didn't agree with it but at least it was reasonably well thought out. This one not so much.

Well I agree about the paywall thing. HS as such drive me crazy with most of the really good articles being "subscriber only" which is complete BS. I personally like the non Caro Age articles more than anything. You don't have to pay and their really good quality. I just noticed on the Roar that just about every time there is a Carlton article, the same people never seem to like it and always find "factual errors".....

Don't really get that as much with the pro's..
