What are the odds the only excerpt from that interview that makes the major news channels is:

Q: "What's the pass mark for this year?"
A: "Oh, look, we're not gonna put a number on it."

I really wish players and coaches would treat that question with the respect it deserves:

Q: "What's the pass mark for this year?"
A: "That's a pretty lazy, stupid question mate, you know full well the answer everyone's going to give. Try a bit harder, hey?"

Carlton’s No.1 draft pick Sam Walsh is setting set his sights on a Round 1 debut with the Blues this year.
Just six weeks into his first AFL pre-season, the midfield jet said pushing for selection in the opening round against Richmond was his motivation every time he stepped onto the training track this summer.

“That’s the goal for me (Round 1 debut). Obviously that’s still a long way away and there’s things to be ticked off before then,’’ Walsh said.

The Allan Jones of football then?

...

I'd say there's a few of those in and around the commentary box or a typewriter talking football.

The man might be a knob, but Alan Jones has well and truly earned the right to talk sport and have people listen.

Winning record as a Union coach of the Australian Team of 84 from 102, including Australia's first series win over NZ in 40 years and a Grand Slam tour of the UK.

Those are serious credentials.

He has the right to talk sport, wasn’t the point of the reference.

The man has lost the ability to listen or respect people. Loves the sound of his own voice and the people he ‘interviews’ are simply a reason for him to change to whatever topic he wishes to pontificate about next.
