I think context matters though… we’re in the middle of the season and if sayers wanted answers then he should have asked them before the season had begun. Not taking players aside in the middle of the season and questioning their coach. What kind of message does that send? When things are going badly you can really see the worst in people and that’s what we’re seeing. A coach in Teague who wants everyone to stick fat and figure it out together versus a board that slithers around creating more division and uncertainty. It’s night and day. Leppa is completely right on this one.

Before the season everyone thought we were making finals, and you want the questions to have been asked then?

Halfway through the year we're a mess, and the soon-to-be President (who hasn't even officially taken over) has stepped in to ask for some honest feedback. He's obviously concerned by what he's heard.

Leppa can go jump - if players have concerns and that's manifesting on-field, then we need to get to the bottom of it ASAP. That doesn't mean the players are right, but asking questions is the starting point. Player A reckons so and so has been shafted at the selection table, Player B says the gameplan encourages attacking play but leaves us exposed defensively and the players are copping the blame...take those comments and dig deeper (through a review, perhaps...?) to establish how we fix those problems ASAP.

Maybe digging deeper identifies that the players are partly/wholly at fault.
Or that the coaches are, but they were unaware and just need support.
Or that they were aware and refused to adapt, and need a strong hand.
Or that a strong hand still won't help and they need to go.

None of that comes to light unless questions are asked. And the time to ask them is "as soon as you know you need to" not "6 months ago when everyone thought things were awesome".

I don't really care who it is - Leppa shooting from the hip at such vague information is pathetic. All we know is that some senior players had an informal chat with the incoming president and they admitted confusion around the game plan, this bloke has turned it into players complaining about Teague and should be exiled from the club.

He pretends he's above the media sh*t because he's coached before but he's a grub shock jock just like the rest of them.

Is it supposed to go like this?

Sayers: Boys, big review coming as you know, where can we start with you guys? What's most important?
Player: Mate, fu** off - we will give you our feedback when the real review starts. We're going just fine.
Sayers: You're 4-8 and 14th, just trying to help.
Player: Oh.
Or...

Sayers: So how do you think we're traveling? What can we improve?

Player: It's fine. I'm fine. Everything's fine.

It was reported they were ready to clean out the assistants before the season started and David Teague said no. That’s when they should have challenged him or at least ask the players questions. That’s what proactive clubs do.

Things went pear shaped in Round 2, and haven't been fixed since then.

Worse?
The only way things can get worse from here to the end of the season is if we lose required players.
And an external review into the Football Department is more likely to rectify problems and be able to keep required players on board, than letting things continue as is.
It’s pretty obvious that this so called review is predetermined. MLG pretty much said so. Teague is safe but the rest of them aren’t… what load of bs is that? I agree it was pear shaped then as well.. the players were at the club so why didn’t they ask questions then? The board is just going on the fly because of the push back from the supporters. The same supporters that wanted teague in the seat and are now wanting his head. It’s mob rule. This is not how you run an organisation. They’ve distracted all of us with this bs to save their own shells. It’s glaringly obvious.
