Still harbour hope that a 22 game season from Waite results in an AA squad nomination.

He played a bit back last year and still managed to average ~2 goals a game. Add to that his 6-7 marks and 12-15 disposals a game and I think that's a very productive season. Bloke just needs to stay on the park is all.
I think he's getting there, a good preseason, and we might finally get more than a glimpse. That said, I thought that when he did play last year, he played bloody well.

Carlton angry at AFL plan for Malthouse TShirt

CARLTON is seething after a proposal to depict coach Mick Malthouse as Darth Vader on a T-shirt was distributed to AFL clubs.
The design rakes over the coals of Malthouse’s bitter departure from Collingwood and his relationship with his successor at the Magpies, Nathan Buckley.

The provocative image, sent to club merchandise departments last week, has Malthouse/Vader saying: “Nathan, I am your father.”
The AFL confirmed its licensing department had been involved in the process that led to the designs being sent around the league.

The illustration was part of a range of “Ultimate Rivalry” designs to promote the club’s Round 7 blockbuster clash with Collingwood at the MCG on May 2.
The theme ties in with “International Star Wars Day” on May 4 — “May the fourth be with you” is the day’s catchcry.

Carlton was privately furious that the Malthouse/Buckley T-shirt had advanced to this stage without being quashed.

Strangely enough... Eddie Everywhere has come out and said:
“I’m absolutely stumped for something to say for the first time ever,” Collingwood president Eddie McGuire told the Herald Sun.
And the Collingwood marketing division has actually come out on our side against tacky merchandising that diminishes our traditional rivalry...
Collingwood issued a further statement: “It is our understanding that a preliminary marketing proposal has been put that, as Collingwood sees it, has nothing to do with the authentic and deep-rooted rivalries that exist in the game.

“Collingwood welcomes innovation but not innovation that cheapens or diminishes the rich histories of the clubs in the competition. We await more detail.”

Just to make that stuff, you'd reckon they'd be paying a packet to Disney for the rights.
For something that doesn't really make a lot of sense.
I mean, I like footy and I like Star Wars, but combining the two really doesn't work for me. o_O

If they want to promote the rivalry, then what's wrong with putting a photo of Jezza's mark in the 1970 grand final on the front of the shirt.

Collingwood can then reply with a one of their great memories from when they beat Carlton in a grand final.................. that's if they have any photos from the 1910 GF.

It's beautiful, isn't it?
Their "memorable moments" against the Blues are rather sparse, generally have nothing to do with winning a flag and are meaningless in the bigger picture.
e.g.
McGuane's run and goal in '94. Great goal sure, all those years ago. Walker's effort against the Saints last year was better given that his run started at half back (McGuane's started in the centre).
Stan Magro's hit on Jezza in '78. They loved that - bragged about it for years. Ignoring the fact that it was a dog act flattening a champion player who'd had the courage to park himself under the ball - and the incident fired the Blues up for a come-from-behind win.

I think a smiling Wayne Harmes might do the job...
