Yep. It's a shame they made the choice for him
Far better players then Brock have been given an unexpected tap on the shoulder by the coach (Matthew Lloyd) and handled it much better then Brock has.

Lloyd did open up about his untimely exit from Essendon but at least he did it months after it happened, and was rather diplomatic about it, all things considered.

Brock's rant strikes me as selfish and ill-considered.
Also there is nothing hypocritical about Mick's behaviour in this, Brock was overseas apparently when the decision to delist him was made,, it was a bit naive of Brock to make holiday plans without definitely knowing his contract status at the club.

No matter how and when they told him, i suspect Brock was always going to be bitter about it.

Moral of the story, MM should not throw stones at people in glass houses, ie he can't bag Waite for leaving the way he did and then virtually give McLean the same sort of treatment.

We picked Mclean with our pick 11 and then proceeded to play him in the VFL where he did not sulk and worked hard to get back into the side. He had very good VFL form but was not selected for a long period of time and was overlooked until injuries forced him back in where once he got the pace of the game he performed well. He has his limitations and he knows them. Unlucky is probably the best word to describe his delisting as he would be a great teacher to our developing kids who play VFL next season.

All the best Brock in whatever you choose to do next
Ratts sold the clubs soul to get Brock to the club. We knew at the time that Fev was on the table because of the Brownlow night but we didnt know what we were going to get for him. Brock was worth nothing more than a second or third round pick at the time. Coming off an extended period off thanks to a serious injury and we hand over a first round pick for him.

I wish Brock all the best, but for what we paid for him and what he returned, he should just shut up and enjoy the spoils of his bank heist.

Not quite the timeline.
We agreed the deal with Melbourne for Brock on the day of the Brownlow.
On the days following, Icke tried the farcical rambling about pick 11 and something else. Melbourne laughed at him which is a story in itself.
Brock was probably the right choice with Fev. He was a wasted pick without him.
Should never have. Been so hasty given it wasn't a steal.

I don't think doing something ill considered in the heat of a moment of intense disappointment is an uncommon action among people. Nor do I think it is worthy of such condemnation. Casting the first stone and all that.

This is what I don't understand, if it was Ratts who wanted him so much why would he then let him play VFL for the best part of 2 seasons?

Time for a Brock Slander thread. Open up with how not shaking hands with Saint Kirk was a dog act and then how being gutted to be playing so poorly that he was subbed off was even worse.

Yet he was thought highly enough of by those who count tobepart of the leadership group. Hmmm.
I had no problem with the not shaking hands with Kirk part, it was the 6 disposals he got afterwards that disappointed me.

Got to back it up

TBH - I would have liked to see him on the list for another year but I have to admit I've never liked the way he's continually blabbed to the media about every single issue he's faced, Including his departure from Melbourne. Not exactly a humble man.

Because he was such a liability when we didn't have the ball as he wasn't 100% fit. Didn't need to be in the VFL, but was exposed at senior level. The amount of vitriol towards him on match day was enormous.

I like it that all year we've been accused of having a very shallow list, and yet our delistings are considered the ones most likely to find a home at a rival club...

Brock to Richmond? Interesting, if true. They, like Norf, may have deluded themselves into a premiership window.

I'm not sure what interest Lucas holds. WA bound, perhaps. Would be a good fit for Sydney who have been shedding players to rival clubs - a tackling coach in rugby heartland would fix perceived softness.

They've decided to go 1st, 4th, 3rd, 4th! Nice one Foxtel...

Still makes me sad seeing Hamill in Saints colours. I think the moment has passed, time for me to move on.....

So you reckon no one at Carlton looks at tackling technique and helps players improve - pretty glaring coaching deficiency at Carlton if true...

In 2014 Carlton were 18th in the league for tackles; Sydney first.

I'm not singling out Kane in particular but it'll only get worse with 6 of our top 20 tacklers per game no longer on the list for 2015.

MM had a whinge about Waite going back on his word but does the same thing a matter of weeks later.
As for "rant" I don't think what Brock had to say was too bad at all, he was disappointed and justifiably so, just as MM was about Waites decision. Either both are right to air their frustrations or neither are, we can't have a double standard just because one is still affiliated by the club.

You're assuming Mick voluntarily changed his mind about Brock.

Interestingly Hawthorn - this year's flag winner averaged 1 tackle per game more than Carlton and ShitneyCOLA whom you referred to averaged a massive 2 tackles per game more...

Ranking 18th ( last) in averages doesn't seem to mean much - when the difference between top and bottom is all of 2 tackles per game. Carlton also came last in handballs and disposals per game - but ranked top4 in restricting opponents handballs and disposals. All in all defensive effort I suspect isn't the reason why Carlton didn't play finals.
