Carlton Launches the Blue Zone

The Carlton players have turned out in force on the famous Lygon Street retail strip as the Club launched Blue Zone in the heart of Carlton town.

Blue Zone, a campaign to further the connection between the Carlton Football Club and local communities, is aimed to highlight the Club’s ongoing work with its citizens.
All members of Carlton’s senior group converged on Lygon Street to meet with the retailers and supporters as part of the Blue Zone launch.

I was out there today. It was awesome. Most of the players were really receptive to the fans. I managed to score 26 signatures including Andy McKay!

I must admit, I felt like I was 12 again.

The event also served as a promotion for Carlton’s 2012 Membership campaign with a number of supporters signing up for the new season. The Blues currently boast 29,000 members - an increase of 20 per cent on the corresponding period last year
Up by 20% over last year. Shit just got real.

The Blues are definitely back now.

This is a great initiative by the club - however it shouldn't just stop there in Lygon st - now that we have the Northern Blues running around in the VFL I would like to see (actually I woul in fact demand) that we extend this exercise throughout the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne.

CHRIS Judd and Marc Murphy are strong skinny latte aficionados. But Bryce Gibbs prefers something stronger.

"I recently converted to the long machiato," the former Glenelg boy said. "Acquired the taste from the skinny lattes."
Laughed Judd: "Yeah, it's well known. Strong skinnys are the gateway to a long mach."

Love this quote !!! :D
Veteran restaurateur, University Cafe owner Giancarlo Caprioli, said he was delighted to see the players back in the area.

"Always I pay the sponsorship for Carlton, but I no see the player since Jesaulenko and Jimmy Buckley," he said. "Maybe they gonna come back again later this year in a big bus when they winna the cup."
Giancarlo, remember him from my Parkville days !!

"The idea is that the Blue Zone extends from here to the outer northern suburbs, and we want to make sure that the supporters in that area feel like they're involved and a part of our footy club."

My watchers tell me that Thornton was directed to walk straight down the street towards Jarrad Waite, but instead went sideways and it took the group far longer than it should have to reach their final destination.
