Whoever comes in is a place holder. Its a full overhaul with the benefit of having 3 top 5 picks on the list already but also building through Tassie drafts. It needs an experienced coach who knows what's required to rebuild a whole club while putting up with the horseshit in the background. A first time coach is just going to be on a hiding to none.

Sadly, can see some "powerbrokers" seeing Melbourne and thinking they can do what they are doing with no idea about the state of the lists.

Shaun Grigg would be a good get. Dimma always said he had the best footy brain of all the players at Richmond.

Has done a 7 year apprenticeship under Scott and Dimma.

As long as he is not involved in skills training. Though they can’t get much worse.

Could teach Reidy a thing or two about the ruck role though.

Longmire is the right choice imo
I thought so too, to get the footy department in order. But now with reconsideraion, getting a young gun assistant with newfangled modern approach could rev up the tired list.

Other than Tassie, who I think would benefit from an experienced coach, If I were looking at appointing a coach, I would look for the best available untried senior coach. One simple reason. Ex senior coaches rarely survive. The last appointed coach with previous senior experience was Mick Malthouse in 2010. It took him 10 years to achieve this. Every other premiership coach since was appointment by that club in their first gig as senior coach. I am not sure why this happens, but the evidence is very compelling to appoint a new coach rather than go the experience route.

I'm surprised Leon Cameron hasn't been mentioned having been involved in GWS startup and taking a young list through development and then into finals.

Has experience that others don't have in that regards.

Amusing when these “ panels” are assembled to decide on the next coach. My advice to the blues is to avoid garry lyon and tim watson.
The track record of these two sen “stars” is ****ing abysmal. Two club “powerbrokers “ who should never again be let near another “panel”
Track record? Embarrassing, and that’s being kind.

The more i think about this situation the more i think a transitional coach would be the best option
Senior coach that is happy to transition into a younger assistant that becomes the senior coach would be the better option for Carlton.

A coach like Hinkley for 2 years transitioning to a Fraser type might be way to go

Yeah might be the go. Next few years are gonna be rough, experienced senior coach to ride out that period with a defined succession plan in place probably not the worst idea.

Ken would be a disaster, he's past it

Blues need new, fresh blood in the club. Someone new with energy who'll have enough time on their side to make some tough calls that are now necessary.

New coach, list freshen, and they build something together.

Players need to also take a good look at themselves, anyone who continues to service up some of the spineless drivel we've seen over the past two seasons must go
