I do want an opinion from the blues brothers:) regarding your recruiting manager. Murphy and Kruzer are no brainers. Gibbs, the jury's out; Walker not a pick 1; Livingstone we all know a wasted pick 4 and Kennedy I believe is highly doubtful (too lumbering and Whitnall like for mine). But yes it was also a thinly veiled troll too - it makes it a bit of fun:eek:. But I think the thread is still overall fair dinks.

You should seek some knowledge about our recruiting manager before you seek an opinion. Walker was O'Sullivan's last contribution to the club as recruiting manager and Livingston has nothing to do with Hughes.

As Hughes has only been in the job for a few years, you'd have to say the jury is out, although Grigg and Hampson could end up being inspired selections. Additionally Shane Rogers was appointed to the recruiting team only this year, so I think you'll find no need for changes at the moment.

Like most of your posts about Carlton, high on troll factor, light on knowledge.

Oh come come now old boy. Don't be like that. Pratt is a topic that everyone is passionate about. I can see why you guys want his money - who wouldn't. If you look at the Hawk's board, you will see I blasted Kennett and his mouthing about club's financially struggling. So you see, I do put my money where my mouth is.

Lucky we didn't slap and injunction on your sorry arse

What aren't they happy about?

I personally find Carlton's recruiting lacks subtlety; everything seems to be a reaction to the past. In Hughes's first two drafts he drafts a seventeen year old with a late selection. It's a good theory but because it doesn't work wonders in its early implementation he (apparently) abandons it. Last year we went for athletic taller players. It is not an instant success (how could it be) then we go the opposite way the next year. We also impulsively trade a late round selection for a recycled older player with limited success and place too much faith in the preseason draft.

Too few of our selections seem to be players that we rate for talents sake alone and too much is left to chance. We need to constantly take risks but they need to be well calculated ones. It is like as if we barely even dip our toes in one moment or we jump right in without even testing the water the next.

Good post. Interesting to see so few replies that aren't venomous. I think the blues will do very well lads. I will be surprised if they don't make the 8. But just like I didn't rate our previous recruiting managers (I was calling for their heads for sometime), I was interested to see what Blues fans think about their recruiters. I think the Coasters have a remarkable recruiting team. A stack of Gold nugget rookies and late pick selections.

I actually think you are way off the mark and presuming far too much here....how can you possiby attribute drafting some natural hard-at-it footballers as knee-jerk? A strong list needs a balance of all types...I bet last year you were bemoaning taking athletes first, footballers second.....now you whinge this year. Apparently we had browne ranked inside 20...I personally had him right on 20.

You are the type who would win second division in tatlsotto and still not be happy....sure you aren't english?

Happy Hawk... i heard that was a common problem at Hawthorn..

Either your players are too happy or depressed....

Good luck and you better hpe a few of them can hold out before the third strike.....:thumbsu:

I actually read through the whole thread. The responses given were childish. I just makes me laugh. You didn't hear a word from the blues for years and then all of a sudden they have one of the best sides. Anyway I will leave it at that and wait for another shallacking and this time by 150+

Given the thread contained an admitted thinly veiled troll, then what do you expect?

You yourself are bordering on disrespectful so take my advice and stay off this board if this is the best you can muster.

Take note of Hawks supporters and their confidence prior to last season before throwing stones in our direction.

Of course... what else would you expect? ... did you expect us to go around during the 02-07 period saying how good we were, when we weren't? Believe it or not, the side we have now is different to the ones we had back then ;) and yes, it's a lot better, and we acknowledge so. Comprende?

Jesus... sharpen up buddy.

actually making the no 1 selection is not as straight forward as alot of people would think. For example last year there were many who were saying we should take Gumbleton or Leunberger with no 1 pick so people shouldn't say it is a no brainer. Same this year as it would have been a tough decision to decide between Cotchin and Kreuzer. Both years Hughes has made the right pick IMO but it is not always easy deciding who is the best talent in any draft. I think several of Hughes later round selections over th last couple of years have shown alot of promise so i am feeling happy with his performance.

I would have thought the club getting Judd and Hadley in the trade period would have made his decision a little easier.
