Drugs are bad news pe se. Mate of mind had his life ruined by too much mary jane he ended up with schizophrenia. Cost him his job,his wife and really his health. All of this at 23 years of age. Another friend died from Esctasy at a nightclub in Melbourne 28 years old. Family is still trying to come to terms with his death 12 months later.
Angwin whilst stupid is lucky. He is still alive. Just a shame that so much talent has been wasted. That is the real crime.

Interesting thoughts. I guess it is just good to visit a board that isn't laughing at Carlton over this as you guys know how it feels.

Not sure if Norman will stay away from Angwin or not but the vote of confidence from the other players must surely give him a chance of coming through this.

This was in the Herald Sun today...quite interesting.

"...It also was revealed this week that Adelaide recruiting staff were reluctant to draft Angwin in 2000, but were overruled by coach Gary Ayres and assistant Peter Curran.

Angwin, grandson of former Hawks playing legend Andy Angwin, was rated the equal of any talent in that draft.

Ayres and Curran, former Hawthorn players, believed the grandfather connection was sufficient promise of Angwin's pedigree.

Angwin did not play a game with Adelaide and the club sought to have him earmarked as unfit for football and be rewarded with a compensation draft pick.

Angwin, convicted of at least three burglary offences, also allegedly stole money from friend and fellow Crow Michael Handby in 2001. He was booted out of the house at which they boarded.

At one stage while at Adelaide, team staff say Angwin claimed he needed to visit a sick relative, but that he was seen at a Bendigo nightclub at 4am..."

This is why I think coached shouldn't have an input as to who we draft. Sure they can give an input as in what type of players they want but they shouldn't be allowed to get the final say. Thats why we got the bloody recruiting managers.
