Seems pretty obvious if you have the list.

IT HAS not taken long for the influence of newly crowned AFL premier Geelong to spread to its rivals, with Carlton coach Brett Ratten vowing to follow the Cats' lead with heavy rotations in and out of the senior Blues line-up next season.

Geelong, which this year fielded eight players 30 or older on its list, won plaudits for its selection policy, in which no player appeared in every game, its fit and fresh senior core playing to the peak of its form when it mattered most. And Ratten has taken particular note, believing Carlton can compete with anyone ''if we can keep a healthy list together''.

Light-weight, average article.

Nothing revolutionary about resting players when you can. Geelong were top-2 with space for much of the pre-finals series, so they could rest anyone they wanted to. If they were battling for a top-4 spot, they wouldn't have been able to do that. The other issue is their list is very old, and so it had to be rested.

The only thing we could have done better, was to rest Judd for the last 3 games before the finals. We had no chance of a top-4 finished because of the Weagles tank-assisted soft draw last year. I really couldn't see any point in playing Judd at the end of the H&A.

Yep we just have to win enough games to rest Murph and Juddy in Rnd 22 (2nd last match) v GC - should be able to rest them anyway/should be pencilled in

Injury probably hindered us from rotating this year anyway. .. We played more players then the top 4 sides did, we just didn't rest our top players. ..

Great idea. we have more that 22 worthy players and we also need to find out who can play and what our best 22 is. we have so many fringe players we are in a great position. would do our side a world of good to rest judd and murf and ask the question of the second stringers.

I love how on the main board, and when you speak to your mates about things like this, they all critisize Ratten for saying stuff like this. Or they critisize him for saying we are aiming for top 4. Of course we are aiming for top 4, of course we want to rest players.. who wouldn't? I actually like the fact that Ratten just says what everyone pretty much knows anyway... Its like all the opposition supporters just want him to say generic boring robot answers like "yeah we are looking for improvement... we are just going to take it one week at a time".....Good on ya Ratts we are a massive show for the flag for the next 4 years so why pretend we dont know that! Its been a long time coming and you just get a feeling everyone at the club is craving it, and they have the self beleif that they can deliver it! Exciting times ahead

I'd like to see the subs bench used to rest/rotatate players...especially our better players later in the season...imagine Juddy or Murf coming on champing at the bit for a last quarter explosion...
