News Carlton Subcontract CGR for 2018 [shorts & uniforms]

Hi Blues,

Seen it over on the FJGD board on the Round 6 thread that Carlton have subcontracted sportswear company CGR to provide white shorts for the rest of the season.

Contract is only for this year to fill in the gaps Nike couldn't provide with the intention of Nike picking up the slack from 2019 (final year of the current contract).

Seems to be a Carlton and CGR move with Nike all but mentally checked out of Carlton and this was a very quick decision and turn around.

I thought it was interesting and hadn't seen a thread on your board yet.

Cougar Sportswear out of Thomastown.
They did lots of the junior leagues and some vfl stuff as well while I was there. I worked there about 5 years ago. Change of name, suggests to me Cougar folded and was reborn. Although I could be wrong, and it could just be a rebrand.

Shorts will be heat pressed. Quality control was very average, we regularly had jumpers and shorts coming back needing to be redone.

They used to have the best footy socks but they went with cheapies from China which where crap. Shame really.

Guy who owns it is a good dude, but was very hands off when I was there. So I hope they are more professional these days. Lucrative business.

Fun fact: Steele Sidebottom's brother used to work there for a while in the art dept.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I never did get my last 3 days pay. Damn.
