Blues have done ok so far but have plenty of tests to come. Have had the easiest draw in the country. I don't think I have ever seen a team reach Round 18 without having played one of the top 3 teams. Astounding they have not played Demons, Lions or Cats. If they lose all 3 of those they are in liquorice, if they win one they will play finals, win 2 and they will be top 4 and win all 3 then blow the lids off as they will be a massive chance for the flag.

Looking like a great appointment.

Huge turnaround from the David Teague era, got the Blues rolling sitting a game out of the 4 in his first season as coach.

Not sure our draw ended up as easy as it looked at the start of the year. Out of our 5 double up games 3 are against current top 8 teams and we have 6 interstate matches. Compare that to Geelong who have 0 double up games against top 8 sides and get to play both North and westcoast twice. 0

Quite happy for the blues. For the first time in my 25 years of life I can honestly say it’s a big game between the two. The 4 best key forwards in the league all in one match is awesome too.
Could have ourselves an old fashioned shootout...
In reality, it will probably end up a score around 70 odd each, with all four players barely kicking a goal between them.

Durdin or Motlop, whichever one you rate less will score 3+ unless there’s a worse forward option I’m forgetting

I call it the Darren Minchington effect. Guy kicked 22 goals in 28 games for the Saints, including 9 in 3 games against us. Spud against the rest of the comp.

I'd nominate Honey if he doesn't get dropped. Not a spud, but hasn't been playing well since he came back from injury. Be great if you could play him into form for us.

Reminds me of Membrey.

Reminds me of Membrey.
Membrey has played 1 more game for the Saints than Gehrig did for 142 less goals. He’s nothing special but this era is harder to score in and the Gtrain is significantly better. Just trying to put it into perspective that there’s a lot worse than Membrey around.

Example like 9/10 of Saints list

Yeah but he annoys me more because when he's in poor form, he always somehow plays his best against us.

josh thomas was the absolute king of playing his best games against us

Josh Honey breakout game?

Need to beat Collingwood next week to make finals, after losing what some have called an "unlosable" game.

Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to watch but the Teague comparisons just don't go away.

Teague comparisons :joycat::joycat::joycat: we almost won with 3 of our best mids out with Docherty in the guts for his first game ever and Setterfield going toe to toe with Petracca and Oliver. Miracle that we werent down by 10 goals with what we were up against.

If one of the leagues younger performing coaches like Craig McCrae or Justin Longmuir was coaching this Carlton list are you saying that the Blue wouldn't be booked into a finals berth by now?

Justin Longmuir took how long to make finals with his current list? Craig McCrae inherited a list that made finals three of the last 4 years and outside Geelong and the Tigs probably has the most experienced playing group in the league.

Carlton has 4 players on our list that have ever even played in a final and only 1 was playing last night.

So no. I don't think either would be doing much better as we were flying earlier in the year and have lost form through injuries. We have had the most injuries in the league this year by a fair margin too which has meant we've lost continuity and are now out of form even with a healthier list than in previous weeks.

Richmond 2020 looked at water in the same situation but got cattle back with enough time left in the season, built back their early season form and charged through finals like they had years prior. We might make the 8 still, but with players like Kennedy, Williams, Hewett, Cerra, Newman going down in recent weeks its highly unlikely any coach would have us looking any better this week, especially a first year coach.

Don't care about your team's injuries. Your team had an easy fixture

Going to preface by saying I’ve seen maybe two games in total, but has anything changed from last year under David Teague ?

Still seem unable to prevent teams getting run-ons against them, can’t defend transition and seem to be treading water through another season.

Got burnt by Collingwood, a side which is great on that transition, and now consequently miss finals again.

Has Voss achieved anything Teague wouldn't have? Hard to think with a list of their quality they should be far better than 9th.
