What it means for Carlton:
After securing successive victories for the first time in more than two years, the Blues can continue to build confidence with another win on Saturday. Having moved up a spot on the ladder, they can also close the gap on more teams above them.
What it means for Adelaide: The Crows have now lost three of their past four games and are just clinging to their spot in the top eight. Victory on Saturday will consolidate their finals spot, while it might also help them gain some crucial confidence after a disappointing patch.

The stat: The MCG hasn't been a happy hunting ground for the Crows recently. They have lost their past three games at the home of footy by an average of 50.3 points.
The match-up: Ed Curnow v Matt Crouch
It could be Matt, it could be Brad. Regardless, expect Curnow to tag one of the prolific brothers. Both are averaging more than 30 disposals per game this season, though Curnow has been able to win his own footy while thwarting his opponent since moving back into the midfield over the past six weeks.
It's a big week for: Stephen Silvagni (Carlton) and Justin Reid (Adelaide)
They completed arguably the biggest trade of the season when they swapped future picks so Carlton could move back into the draft to snare Liam Stocker last year. It's ensured a narrative has surrounded both clubs throughout the season and will again be brought up on Saturday. As things stand, the Blues nabbed Stocker and pick No.11 for pick No.3 as part of their deal with the Crows.
Liam Stocker found himself at the centre of the biggest trade of last season. Picture: AFL Photos

Big call:
Tex turns back the years, kicks five to inspire Crows win
Prediction: Adelaide by seven points

We're too buoyant to be hostile.

Form team of the competition.

:)

Lol you guys are a crack up. 4 points over 11th ranked Freo, beaten by 17th ranked Melbourne, 7 points over 15th ranked Sydney, and 24 points over gold coast, who everyone else is smashing. Reality check this week.

This will be the most satisfying win of the year if we can nail them.

Hopefully Tex plays. He's such a great 23rd man.

It’ll be his turn next week if he doesn’t perform, regardless of the Captaincy. Ironically as far as Betts is concerned against a young side this is the game where he could’ve kicked a bag. Good decision though, it’ll be good to see more of Stengle.

Wilson has been our standout player in the SANFL all year, has been absolutely smashing it, so good to see him finally getting a game.....way overdue! With him, Stengle, and Murphy all in, our small forwards will hopefully wreak some havoc. Betts has been down for some time, is a good move to replace him atm.

Career over? Are Adelaide finally looking at cutting some senior players and have given up on the year?

Wouldn't have thought so, given their draft pick swap with us.

Bit surprised Greenwood being dropped, unless they already know he has committed to a new club.

How Darcy Fogarty still can't get a game with the Crows is a mystery to me, what the hell is the purpose in keeping playing him in the SANFL ?

Admittedly Bolton giving McKay a spell in the VFL last year was good for Harry's discipline and on field workrate, but I don't see Fogarty having the same problem/issue.

Refusing to blood youth like Fogarty may very well prove to be Don Pyke's waterloo.

Fogarty’s barely touching the ball at SANFL level. I’m still convinced he has a future though.

Their end position doesn't mean anything to the pick they get though, I meant in terms of winning a premiership they must believe they will be just making up the numbers by dropping someone like betts. Otherwise you back the senior boys in to win 5/5 and sneak in the top 4 surely.

Crows playing their worst footy in years. Carlton playing their best in years. Anything less than a 10 goal win for Adelaide is embarrassing for them.
