Carlton made 6/160-odd off 15 overs. (At one stage were 3/5 after 4) Nick Stevens made 45. Fevola 77 off about 20 balls (they had a playing condition where if the ball went to the boundary between deep mid-off and deep mid-on, an extra 10 runs were awarded. Fev hit 3 of these accumulating 46 runs from 3 balls.
Essendon made the runs in about 10 overs and batted on to about 240 from their 15 overs. Nick Stevens took 3 wickets (at one stage had 2/0 off 2 balls). The big disappointment for me was that only 1 footballer bothered to come over to us (I took my 6yo son and sat with a bunch of junior cricketers) to sign autographs. Essendons Mark Bolton. Even during the legends game, only 1 cricketer (Greg Matthews) did the rounds of the ground to sign autographs. Too busy looking after the corporate people![]()
