I know this going to anger traditionalists but this is 2001 and presentation on tv is critical. Two predominately dark teams makes telling one teams from the other very difficult especially at night.

Teams playing in different colours from there traditional strip does not make that team any less valid. Manchester United has played in every colour of the rainbow and they are always Man. Utd.

I agree entirely. Essebdon, as the away team, will look similar, due to their dark jumper, to the home team Carlton. What's wrong with Essendon adopting a predominately red jumper for our away games against Carlton, Melbourne, and St.Kilda? Particulary, Melbourne.

Have you seen the training strips that Essendon and Richond wear, they are perfect as an away jumper.

Essendon have a training jumper that is nearly all red with diagonal thin black sashes across the front. It look okay, I reckon. Not as good as the traditional, but a worthy substitute when we are the away tea against Melbourne. I hate watching Ess-Melb matches sometimes. It's a big mixture of dark and red.

The Richmond training jumper is like a flouro yellow with black stripes running from the hip to the armpit. Probably a bit plain, but a good starting point!

Richmond and Melbourne last week was also a good example for the need of contrasting strips. There were instances were both sides kicked straight to the opposition in error.

Also need to have more contrast between the umpire strip and the Kangaroos 'White' gear. I'm sure a few boundary umpires have picked up some handball receives!

Melbourne & Richmond don't need to change. There are not many similarities. But when Melbourne play Essendon it is very difficult when the ball is on the other side of the ground. In saying that I am a traditionalist and would love the jumpers to stay.
