i think we got the short staw here, port power don't care about the nab cup or pre season matches, not sure this is going to provide us with the type of hit out we need

at least we will play on a great surface at Princess Park

i think we play hartlett on tredrea if he plays, so we can see how he goes on a gun FWD

give fev a rest as he doesn't look too interested ATM

give prendergast a rest as clubs must realise atheletes don't make footballers, thay may look great and train the house down, but out on the field under real pressure they crumble- they should all be refered to as biscuits

bryan play in a key defensive position to see if he can play there

Saturday March 4- Carlton v Port Adelaide at Princess Park, 1.30pm

Seeing as though we don't receive any dollars for the naming rights now, can we please stop saying Optus Oval? Princes Park sounds much better.
it was a cut and paste from afl.com

Righto Grammar Natzi's! Chill out a bit.

Lets talk about Walkers performance on Saturday night, I reckon he tries harder than any other bloke out there, maybe tries a little too hard at times, which leads to rushing his disposal.

Very promising once again, should really come on in leaps and bounds this year.

I think he followed instructions to a tee. He was obviously told to make sure G.Ablett has no impact and he did that. Walker and Simpson both appear to have implicit imstructions to run and run hard when they get the ball. I think this has an adverse effect on Walker's disposal, but he'll adapt in time.

Enjoyed his game, but would still prefer to see the shackles released on him a bit more. He is the ideal wingman in my opinion. I'd love to see Russell given the role Walker currently has.

Agree 100%. Walker onto the wing and Russell as the close checking half back flanker is how I want both those 2 to finish this season in the seniors.
Russell can then develop into a midfielder over time but starting on the back flank this year like Carrazzo did previously.

This is good that it's in Melbourne because I'll get to see the match.:thumbsu:

Does anyone know how much entry into the ground will cost? Can I just use my AFL membership or Carlton Membership?

I think you will have to pay no matter what sort on member you are.
At least that what i think i remember from previous practice games i have attended over the years and yes even at Princes Park.
I could be wrong though.

We'll certainly have to pay to get in, even if you are a member. It cost $15 to get into the NAB Cup, so you expect it would probably cost around $10-$12 maybe on Saturday.

Although players need match conditioning this time of year I would prefer to see the likes of Kouta, Stevo, French etc rested and give the younger types a chance to strut their stuff this week. Some experimentation could certainly do no harm. Possible line up:
B. Livingston Hartlett Carrazzo
HB. Russell Bower Thornton
C. Walker Bentick Simpson
HF. Waite Whitnall Fisher
F. O'hAilpin Fevola Betts
R. McLaren Houlihan Murphy
I. Bryan Sporn Blackwell Scotland Teague Davies
Fev, Waite & Simmo will benefit fromg the run coming back from injury. Russell is a must to play and wouldn't mind seeing Bower in defence as well. Maybe too young but can't do any worse. Carrazzo, Betts, Houlihan, Bentick, Walker, Blackwell Murphy, Davies etc to rotate through the midfield. Just my opinion though.

Agree with this logic. Hopefully now that we aren't playing in the nabcup, this will be the case until we get closer to round1. Time for the second tier to step up and demand a spot. The only way the can do this, is by given a chance to prove themselves. I would rest Waite/Fevola and anyone else NOT fully fit until they are 110%.

I would play Kouta, French and Stevens this week, only because it is at Princes Park - immaculate surface and they still need that match fitness.

However rest them the week after if we play somewhere crap.

Totally agree it would be good to see if the new boys have as much poise as Murphy in his first match. Edwards as well if he is fit but definetly Bower and Russell as we have to see how well they can play in our leaking Defence even at this early stage. Can't wait for this weekend i'm salivating at the prospect already.:thumbsu:
