Thread all about the game ahead, tips everyone? Match reviews etc etc...

We really should get up by about 5 or 6 goals, can't wait to see Fev lining up for some 9 pointers... Betts to kick a few would be awesome. Our midfield should walk all over theirs, go the Blues :)

I have a feeling Essendon will win by about 20 points tomorrow, but I hope I'm wrong. On paper the Blues have a much faster, younger more talented side and have a clear midfield advantage. But they're a young inconsistent side, and I think the older, more experienced Bombers will prevail at this early stage of the year. Sheedy is desperate to win this game, don't be fooled by his low key appraoch. Expect some 'injured' players to appear in the Bombers line-up. I hope Eddie Betts does well. Could surprise a few. :)

Ahhh... 2005 - back in the thick of it :)

Hey ho all,

I reckon this game will come down to who has the more effective rebounding defenders.

The bombres (intentional) have an advtange in forward line with one M Lloyd and we have an advantage in the midfield with the Johnsons and Hird expected to miss.

All I want out of the game is to see some of the young ones having a consistent games of AFL standard. 15 of those blokes and 3 stars and you have a top 8 side.

Carlton by 5 goals :)

Is Lloyd playing? I thought that he wasn't.

Lloyd isn't playing, remember people this is only the wizard cup. our better players won't be on the field tomorrow night but otherwise will be a great game. hoping to see a big crowd.

Blues by -33 :p

I'm just hoping to see a good exhibition of aussie rules footy if the blues have a red hot dip like the hawks did today then i suspect they will win by around 5 goals ..looking forward to Fev bombing a few long ones through as well

I hope we start to play Telstra Dome a little better. I hope our young guys run the bombers off their feet and use the ball well to Fev and Big Red.
Blues by 26pts.

Well Lloyd didn't play so we took forward line honours too which left the bombers in a deep hole because in turn that meant we took defensive honours as well.

Overall dominance in every section of the ground with only concentration lapses and showboating when the game was already won (which is not a clever thing to do) cost us turnovers and a bigger margin.

Still somewhat exciting. Walker didn't fade out of the game so much as fade in and out, which is an improvement. Does seem to attack the ball a little too much, over pursuing and the like.

Davies was in for a brief time but because of the coverage I don't know if it was because he was on the bench most of the game or what.

Kouta was outplayed, by about 6 men because where the hell were the rest of the midfields opponents? Apparently that was left to Solomon and *hint* the blood rule.

Four times we had someone go off, I saw him involved in the contest in two of them. The Stevens one was just a stray foot.

Betts got in the play due to sloppy talk in defense then Whitnall helped him out late in the last.

Chambers showed he can provide something, his fitness base giving the impression he got better as the game went on.

Fev needs to remember how to kick goals... must have borrowed some of Richos boots - passed to Lappin lace out from 50m but couldn't by a goal.

Oh and that Whitnall bloke...

SENNNNNNNSATIONAL BIG LANCE EAT PIES GARY LYON

Yeah it was a great hitout for the boys ..houla and especially big red were phenomnenal..mentions also must go to teague and skinny who were also great.
Eddies betts looks fantastic ..he was only on the ground for a short time but he was in everything ...i think we have a winner there >
bombers were lacking their big guns and i thought Lucas did a great job for them as he was virtually there whole forward line . i was a bit dissapointed with walker he didn't seem to be up to the pace and intensity of the game .
all in all a good hit out and we shouldn't read too much into it
our number 1 recruit for 2005 ...BIG RED !!!

Thought Livo did well with T-Bird in defence. Lucas got some soft frees which flattered his performance. Also like the game of Trent Sporn and Simon Wiggins when he came on.
