Carlton Vs Essendon

Yes, you do raise a good point, however to 'The Bombers' credit, and I don't mean to seem arrogant' but our forward line is possibly the best in the business when at full flight, barring of course Hawthorn. It just seems to me like its going to be hard for Carlton to match Lloyd, Lucas, Neagle and Hille (don't underestimate his goalkicking ability) I expect Carlton to win slightly, however don't be surprsied seeing the a very proficient Bombers forward line.

This is so funny:rolleyes: Lloyd finally has one ok game and suddenly you have possibly the best forward line in the league. What a joke :D

We have to stop Neagle?

LOL.

A few Bombers fans are talking him up as young player who is a gun and someone we can't stop because we don't have an opponent for him. Opposition fans still don't know anything about our backline which is developing and no longer the worst in the AFL. You could have a great forwardline, but if you don't want win the midfield battle, you'll taste the end of our sword like the Pies last week.

And in round four.

Hille/lazycock - Sentanta
Neagle - Thornton/or austin
Lucas - Waite
Lolyd - Jamison

Think that covers it....

Im more concerned about your small quick players than your talls.
Lovett killed us last time, have to tag him out of it, maybe armfield for that job he has the pace to go with him. Also, the mosiquito fleet in reimers, monfries and co can do some damage.

Not worried about your talls AT ALL.
You won against a team that tanked last week, and all of a sudden your 'bouncing back'

bluebear, im not sure what the stats are regarding Shaun Hampson and TimeOnGround, but i'd imagine it wouldnt be impressive.

Is giving a player less than 2 quarters in total of footy going to help him or giving him over 3 in the seconds better?

I think he played something around 30-48% of the game. Pretty sure it was 38%. (According to AFL statistics provided to The Age)

Is Lovett playing? He was out last week...

I'd think we would put Armfield on Lovett..especially after his good job on girly Thomas

Ratten said today that he expects Lovett to play. Not good news for us, but you would think that Armfield is the obvious first choice.

haha!! sorry bud but you wouldnt have a clue what a good forward line looks like. what a stupid comment. Lloyd is past it, Lucas won't be as good as he was, Hille VERY inconsistent, and as for Neagle, he is just a joke. I mean seriously, you guys pumped up Courtney Johns so much that you made every one think he'd be something special. Naturally he turned out a hack, just as Neagle will

Lloyd has kicked 29 goals this year from 12 games, he is still on track for a 50 goal season yet he is past it?

50 goals a year from a 100 goal a year forward........maybe not "past it", but he is in rapid decline...........lets hope so this week anyhow......always seems to pull out something special for the Blues.

Newsflash
Our midfield would be to blame for his goalkicking tally as well dont you think?

Are you saying he was never really that good, but a great midfield made him look better?

Before you answer, think of Fev's goal tallies recently, without Lucas by his side taking defenders away, and without a decent midfield for the last 7 years.;)

C'mon mate we all now Lloyd is past it in terms of being a focal point up forward - p.a.s.t.

And I wouldn't get too excited about your stats. 2.5 goals a game isn't exactly world beating. Plenty of ok players can do that.

Hawthorn: Franklin 5.0 goals per game
Carlton: Fevola 4.2
Brisbane: Bradshaw 3.9
Brisbane: Brown 3.5
Fremantle: Pavlich 3.5
Hawthorn: Roughead 3.2
Richmond: Richardson 2.9
Adelaide: Burton 2.8
Collingwood: Medhurst 2.8
Port Adelaide: Motlop 2.8
Sydney: O' Loughlin 2.6
Western Bulldogs: Akermanis 2.6
North Melbourne: Thompson 2.4
West Coast: McKinley 2.4
Essendon: Lloyd 2.4

Umm no, i am saying he is not the player he was and everybody knows that. Constant and quality delivery from the midfield helps any forward. If Fev tore the hamstring off the bone, how would you think he would go at 30 years old? Not very well. ;)

Im quite nervous about this game. Finally the media and other clubs are starting to sit up and take notice of the Blues. The win last week was a pearler in the way they did it, being 4 goals down then producing a storming 2nd half like that was spine tingling.

However I just hope/pray that dont get ahead of themselves. We need this win badly to show that we can put away the bottom 4 sides. Essendon will come out roaring and we have to be on our game!!. Getting very nervous.

Who else is going?? Im going to need a couple of lagers before hand to calm the nerves.

Lloyd - Past it, too heavy lost his pace.
Lucas - Should have traded him for an early pick last year guys, past it.
Neagle - Who? Whishful thinking Essendon.
Hille - Too short for the ruck, too slow and imobile for key position, like Cameron Cloke but doesn't cover the ground as well
Lovett - For once we have a match-up for this type, Armfield.

Essendons forward line is far from the best in the leagues and any one who rates the bombers is overrating them.

Essendon can win if we play poorly and once again can't kick straight.

If we lose or win narrowly I'll be very dissapointed, we could do with some percentage and we are a much better team than them, if we don't win by plenty we have underachieved and I hate underachiving...

Go Blues, give em hell!

I'm just happy that the Essendon supporters are up and going for this game.
I thought it was going to be a quite crowd but it looks like will get a good turn out and something the blue baggers will be up and rearing to go at. Bring it on.

Yep guaranteed to get the emotions going. Good luck on sunday :thumbsu:

LOL! I haven't laughed so hard in some time. Talk about overrating themselves WAAAAAAAAYYYY to much, we overrate oursleves? Do you guy's even hear yourselves? You'd think Carlton were in the top 3, not sitting 8th, and relying on their #1 picks and Fevola to do all the work up forward. You'd also would of thought they had beaten quality sides, not a chocking Port side or a Pies side that always manages to crumble with games they should win.

I'm not sure about Carlton, but at Essendon we honour our players and don't trade away club champions like Lucas and Lloyd. And don't even mention Cloke in the same paragraph as Hillie, Hillie is so far ahead of Cloke it's not funny. I'd even rate Laycock (who is in bad form) ahead of Cloke any day of the week. Hillie's So far, far, far, FAR ahead of him. I rate Neagle ahead of any Carlton forward, bar Fev.

Interesting to note that despite the last match we played you, we were without Lucas, Hillie for a Qtr, Fev kicked 8 goals, Judd, Betts and Murphy played good games etc and yet we still won easily.

Now, I'm not saying we'll beat the top sides, but I think we can beat Carlton, and quite easily at that. The sooner Carlton fans and players start believing their own hype, the sooner we'll march in and win easily. Carlton are only 8th.

Yep and this time last year we were for all intents and purposes 16th. Are you starting to see a pattern at all? Can you find North on your compass?

That's actually pretty funny.

I love how people still go on about Fev and our number one picks are getting us over the line. Maybe our good recruiting has something to do with it as well

Fev has kicked under 30% of our score this year, which is down on most years. It's around the figure you'd expect your main forward to kick as well.

Then look at our next two

Eddie Betts - pre season draft
Bradley Fisher - pick 73 in the either 03 or 04 draft...

Thornton - rookie list
O'HAilpin - rookie list
Carrazzo - rookie list

Don't blame carlton for having better recruiters.

Noobs going to come in with this sort of sensible post I see a very dismal future for BF and its assorted crazies and shenanigans. Well done, Tish but that will be enough I think. :thumbsu::(

Add Bentcik to that list

also armfield with pick 48 & Browne at pick 36 look to be inspiring picks as well...

I haven't laughed in so long since I read that post. Thanks mate.

Talk about over ratting our selves?

Laycock is a dud.
Hillie is not as good as you make him out, and who is Neagle and what has he done? nada

You beat us last time, because you guys were hot, much like we are now.

A smart man would suggest Carlton. Time to take your head out of the sand champ.
