Cant wait for the game on Friday night.

Fevola will be a HUGE loss to us, but hopefully he wont be missed.

I think Whittnal will play down back again and either Russel, Carrazzo or Walker will play on Williams due to his explosive pace.

Just to inform the Hawks fans on a few of the inclusions...

Brad Fisher: Key position CHF who presents alot and is an excellent mark. We have really missed him. Probably Hodge will take him as Fisher plays up the ground a lot, or Sewell.

Jordan Russel: He is a VERY quick medium sized midfielder/defender. He has definatly been brought in to quicken us up. He may play on Williams if Pagan wants to set him a task or maybe on Bateman across the wing and he physically (body size) isnt ready for the crash and bash of footy.

Setanta O'hAlpin: Will play at FF a lead out of the square. Was one of the best in the VFL last year and continued his form this year. Is a very hard match up as he is extreamly quick for his size, and takes a good mark. Basically he is a bigger Fisher. He isnt the most reliable kick in the world and Dawson should take him.

THE KEY MATCH UPS:
Whittnal vs Croad
Mitchell vs Stevens
Hodge vs Fisher

The game will b won in the midfield. WHich ever team gets the ball into their forward line with any sort of quality will win. Hawthorn should win this game but as im a Carlton supporter CARLTON BY 14 points. :thumbsu:

Not worried bout their In's, except for Fisher. He is an absolute gun and could cause problems. Jacobs to him IMO..

Russell and Ohailpin are likely to do bugger all...

O'hAlpin could be a suprise packet. 3 - 5 goals is very realistic. He is quick and if he kicks straight might cause problems.

Russel, like said, wont offer TOO much 5 - 15 possies at best.

Very good player , if we can keep him quite without Fevola should go along way to winning the game . Must win for us .

Must win! We are a better team than Carlton, losing to them is a big slip in our season, we've played some good footy and MUST apply the same pressure throughout the game like last week when we smashed the Cats.
We need to dominate the midfield again and hopefully Croady, Brown and Williams and Dixon can get enough of the ball up forward. We need another whole team performance like last week where we had 22 solid contributors, thats what will win us the game tonight. Hopefully Dawson and the back half can do the job tonight, need Roughie and Danny Jacobs to really help out Dawson.

As much as I support Dawson and understand that he needs to be backed up, we also need the young backman to stand up and hold is own... I think with Fevola missing, tonight is a good chance for him to do that. While support should be forthcoming from other backliners when available, they should not forget their own man at any time.

I went back this week and watched the 4th quarter of round 6 game between the Hawks & Blues from last year. A bit similar to tonight's game. No Fev. Telstra Dome. Friday Night Football. Anybody think this game tonight is a sure thing for the Hawks needs to watch that game.
Blues began to win the clearances in the last quarter and they just wanted the ball more than the Hawks. Betts was a pest with 3 goals. Whitnall and Waite did some damage. Blues came back from 3 goals down at the last break to win by a goal. Blues had 10 premiership points after this round 6 game and finished season with only 18. Says something about getting ahead of yourself.
As I've just watched a replay of that game once, don't want to see another replay tonight!

I'd love to see a replay of rd 6 well that proved we can win with out fevola .
and lost with him, what dose that add up to . Hawthorn won;t know who to man up on who, with lappin ,fisher (Back) and simpson dangour around goals
it be > game On < from start to final siren i tipp won;t be a big blow out for either side who ever wins wont be alot in it
at least were very competetive against first 3 rounds, win & 2 close losses
to freo & Sydney if we keep it up all year who knows
blues and hawks games are always unpreditable we can even beat essendon with half the senior players out like we did a few years ago

The absolute only reason this game is a tough one is because of Telstra Dome otherwise the Hawks would be firm favourites.

I think the hawks are a year or two more advanced than the Blues, and its surprising after our start to the year that some still rate us around the level as Carlton.

I don't think we are certainties for the 8 or anything like that, but I would definately think with our midfield and new forward structure that we'd be ahead of the Blues.

But as I said not confident only because of where it is played.

What did you guys think of Dawson's game? I took interest for obvious reasons and I thought he played a great game, reckon you have a gun defender in the making.I haven't seen footage of the Collingwood game but I can imagine it's been blown out of proportion. Then I had a look last week(how to make a compete and utter embarrasing ******* of yourself)Congrats K.Kingsley as he pulls his pants up from around his ankles, and now this game.He looks ok to me.

Had a bad one against Rocca. But he has some good parts to his game. Really needs to have another year in the gym, but he could be a handy defender.

Took some nice grabs against Carlton, and puts in all the time. Can't really ask for too much more considering he was always going to be a long term prospect, and is on track in his third year. In a perfect world you'd still have him developing his frame and trade at Box Hill ready for 2007, but he's been thrown into the deep end.

Exactly. He's been thrown in the deep end due to Jonny Hay's departure. Needs another season in the gym and was considered a long term prospect. Has shown enough especially since the Collingwood match. Has pretty decent skills, runs up the ground showing confidence and can take a mark. Has plenty of courage and keeps trying. Can;t ask for much more. As long as he gets support from the other defenders and the midfielders than he should do a reasonable job all season. Could be a very good player.

I had a Cats mate tell me this kid, Dawson will be a gun because he remembers when Scarlett started out in 1999 and he was complaining about him and how poor he was, but they gave him time and now he;'s the best full back in the competiiton!
