Both teams are 4 wins and 9 losses... and are sitting in the bottom four. Melbourne has sparked into some form last week with their win over St. Kilda, in particular David Neitz. Carlton's form has only been apparent in first halves and games where we actually played four entire quarters. As with every game, I am worried about this one. A week or two ago I thought that this game would be penciled in as a win for us, but Melbourne's win and our huge loss changes all that. To win, we must win the ball out of the midfield, our forward line needs to be functional and Neitz to be restricted.
B: Norman Martyn Franchina
HB: Beaumont Thornton McKay
C: Camporealoe Koutoufides Waite
HF: Hickmott Whitnall Murphy
F: Fisher Fevola Lappin
R: Allan, Fletcher, Hulme
Inter: Livingston, French, Houlihan, McKernan
I am giving McKernan one more chance to get some form. Whitnall should stay at CHF all day and Fevola should lead out of the goal square. Martyn can battle Neitz (Mick took the honours last year) with McKay rebonding out of defence. Kouta and Allan are keys to our midfield success - if they can get the ball first and play well, I'm sure we have a chance. Campo will continue his good form by kicking the first two goals of the game and kicking into attack often. Watch out for Neitz, Yze and Green - especially Green because he loves carving us up. Walsh has played well against us in the last couple of games, so we cannot give him space.
After that inept display against Adelaide, expect a far committed and tougher outfit with plenty of determination and not a load of skill (with the exception of a few).
